Pensiunea Bontos — Hotel in Budești

After an entire day of traveling with my partner and a friend, we arrived at the Pensiunea Bontos in Budesti way after 10pm.||We were exhausted and late, however the owners were welcoming us with open arms and warm dinner. We were so grateful to their understanding & kindness.||We had complimentary palinka which is a homemade spirit made of fruits.|The dinner included a very tasty soup (we all had seconds, as it was so nice after the long journey), then we had beautifully cooked meat with mashed potato, gravy and refreshing salad. We even had dessert too.||The rooms were simple, solid and clean.|We had a lovely night rest there.||For breakfast it was a buffet, filled with unique meal choices. All looked beautiful.|We tried them all and there were all delicious. Fresh & homemade produce.|We loved it.||We only stayed here for one night & had a wonderful, relaxing time in this place.||Note: the owners could only speak Romanian, so our friend who also speaks the language fluently was our translator. We loved our staying in the Pensiunea Bontos in Budesti and after 4 days we were terribly sorry to leave because Maria, Sotul and Baba really made us part of their daily life and we felt treated like family.||||We arrived in Budesti after finding out that in Breb (another village in Maramures where we initially planned to stay), we could not get accommodation for less than 140 RON per night (we paid 105 in Bucharest City Center).||||We were very disappointed but eventually we found Maria. She fed and overfed us, told us about life in Maramures, explained how to make butter and cheese (a very easy thing in her opinion) and made me work with Baba's razboi (i gave my small contribution to carpet making).||In Budesti, a typical Maramures village with a beautiful Biserica and Monastery, we had what we expected: real people and real food.||Maria is a smart host, a fantastic cook and she offers clean confortable rooms for...

The best thing you stay in Pensiunea Bontos is the feeling of home and heart-warming hospitality. I love all breakfasts and dinners in my 3-night-stay; as well as the warmly heated room and super nice shower! Well-worth the price!

I would say Budeşti is one of the best villages to stay in Maramureş: 2 wooden churches within the area, a nice gentle slope of houses, you feel life and nature here. While Breb has vast field and space, i like how Budeşti is more compacted and lively. Breb would be a nice strolling distance for an afternoon, and at night have a nice stay at...
