It is the second time that we spend 4 nights for the New Year in this hotel. The top reason is the location : at the the top of the hill road (1500m), there is nothing else than this hotel and the parking. Then you have many trails walking distance with maps available nearby to climb mountains up /down (up to 1850m) and visit monasteries. Even at this elevation, snow is not guaranteed around the hotel and above. Staying here is nice because the air is absolutely pure, after 4pm 90% of the temporary visitors go back downhill and you can spend quiet evenings with great surroundings. The hotel is 3 stars, not more. No elevator, no amenities in the room, breakfast is basic and local, hours of service vary unexpectedly, reception service is basic or missing.. but hotel and rooms are very clean, bathrooms are modern, pillows average, rooms are very well heated, beds are good enough. Having a balcony is great as the view is nice. Hotel is under external renovation as they need to isolate to reduce energy bill… you will get local food, don’t expect anything international. It can be from average to very good (trouts, papanasi,…) and the choice of vegetables is local and limited but good. No fruits here, except for New Year dinner (!). All in all, it is a nice experience when you have the right expectations. Price/quality ratio is good when you benchmark total cost and how much a trip to European Alps would cost for New Year (transportation included)! they could do much better but they would charge more … also don’t forget crampons to walk around, or else you will be very frustrated and can hurt yourself when walking on icy...
Read moreWorst Lunch Experience Ever If you're looking for the absolute worst lunch experience of your life, then this place is perfect for you. The food was beyond terrible—honestly, it looked and tasted like leftovers, every bite was a new level of disappointment. As if the food wasn't bad enough, they managed to serve warm beer. Yes, warm beer. Although we asked for a cold one the reply was it was all they had. Apparently, they haven't figured out refrigeration, which really ties the whole disaster together. And don't even get me started on the staff. RUDE, UNFRIENDLY, and downright useless. They acted like serving customers was the last thing they wanted to do, and it showed in every interaction. It’s as if they were actively trying to ruin your day. After paying (which we were rudely informed was only possible by cash), the head waitress literally threw our change on the counter top without so much as thank you. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. You’d have a better time eating anywhere...
Read moreMixed feelings... What was good about a place (on top of great location) was breakfast, good coffee, tasty food in the restaurant. What I didn't like: the rooms were extremely small, the bathroom got flooded after each shower, there was a very bad smelll from the pipes, there was a dog (on a chain?) just under our window that kept barking the whole night, the bed was too narrow for two people, very uncomfortable, there was no WiFi in the room at all. All those could of course be forgiven but the staff couldn't care less... we even asked once for two glasses of wine to take them to the room (always an option at hotels), but they refused saying that the restaurant is closed). I don't think it was a problem to bring us the glasses anyway, because they could access the restaurant at any time anyway, also after it closed. The staff simply chose not to... I also saw the young staff in the restaurant playing on their mobiles, not caring about the...
