Firstly, I should point out that Limanul is not perfect, there are some hotel related matters that need attention. I will get to my opinion as to why, later.||||Secondly, let me tell you all that is good about Limanul.||||Beginning with the booking experience.||We booked direct with the hotel as one of my wife's family members lives near to it, and he provided their telephone number / email address (We later found their website)||||Anca (@Limanul) replied promptly, with an email that was clear, concise, informative, detailed and written with a great deal of thought.||I was so surprised, I wrote back to her to pay a compliment as it was an exceptional response the type of which I have only known from the General Managers at 5 star hotels (And some of those lacked clarity)||||Next was our arrival;||||In a complete departure from the usual approach by hotels and resorts, Limanul has chosen to use photographs that truly represent their hotel for their own advertising. ||By that I mean, the photographs they commissioned are exactly how the hotel looks and "feels" when you arrive.||||Many - almost all - hotel owners contract a clever photographer to make the hotel look considerably nicer than it actually is.||||Limanul's photography is accurate, and honest.||||This in itself is a breath of fresh air.||We arrived to be pleasantly surprised that the resort is exactly as advertised.||||I do not remember the last time that happened, even at 5 star hotels...||||Next, we were greeted by the owners. ||I believe they are husband and wife, but I am not certain.||The greeting, the registration and pre payment, the tour and the "please treat this as your home" started our stay perfectly.||||We literally did feel relaxed immediately.||||The hotel runs an honesty bar system.||Another guest commented that he believed it was a clever approach because we - the guests - end up drinking and eating more.||||He was right..||||It is very clever, and seldom seen outside of the UK and a few high end resort areas.||||Everyone felt relaxed, with smiles and laughter filling the air.||||You would be forgiven for forgetting that you were now staying in one of the most remote towns in Europe, surrounded by nature at its best and (Mosquitos) worst.||||The rooms;||||Well appointed, easily accessible, comfortable and a decent size.||Few have bedrooms in their homes that match the size of the rooms at Limanul||||The bathrooms follow the same.||A good size, functional, hot showers with decent size mirrors ||||The resort as a whole offers guests a pool, beautiful gardens, a wonderful ambiance and superb service.||||||What could they change?||||We arrived when the temperatures were soaring. Average per day was 39c rising to 42c on one of the days.||||The bedrooms and bathrooms do not have aircon or fans.||Sleeping was difficult. ||||We realise those temperatures are not all year round.||But they are not uncommon during the summer.||||2 of the windows, 1 in the bathroom and 1 in the bedroom, have mosquito nets. This allows you to open them without all manner of bugs flying over night. However. because of the layout those windows fault to create a draft that could cool the room.||||The buildings should stay cool themselves if the doors and shutters are closed during the day (Such is the nature of these style of buildings). We did so, knowing that was needed. However, the temperature was so high that it only made a small difference. After all, we do have to enter and leave the rooms.||||||Overall I would put Limanul up against any of its peers, knowing that it will beat most on service, quality, honesty and integrity. ||||A little money spent on providing some luggage stands inside the rooms, and air conditioning / fans would go a long way to setting Limanul so far about its peers as to be untouchable.||||I would recommend this resort to everyone wishing to visit the Danube Delta. it is exceptional value for money.||||||Finally, a little treat for my wife and I.||As animal lovers ourselves, we were delighted to find a couple of cats and some kittens basking in the afternoon sun when we arrived.||||Another guest was their with her Corgi, and between us we fed the cats and admired the Corgi who revelled in the attention. :)||||Well done to the team at Limanul, few realise how important it is for both hotels and guests to look after animals and the nature we live in.||Of course, the cats bring the added bonus of keeping mice and rats at bay, while making guests feel...
Read moreThis place is wonderful, there was a lot of effort put into building it sustainably with natural resources and local craftsmen, the way old houses were built in this part of the world. The rooms and leisure areas are very generous, instead of cramming more rooms, the owners chose to give each one more space and privacy so it's an excellent spot to relax and unwind. It's beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Because of the weather, we had to also stay indoors so I can vouch for the cozyness of the place :). ||||The food is fish based and plentiful. That's actually what you expect when you come to the Delta, that's what people in the Delta villages have been eating for ages and that's what they know how to prepare best. We stayed for two full days so there was really no need for any change in the menu but if you give them an advance notice, I'm sure you can have other meals prepared. There's nothing lacking drink wise and the prices are very decent. ||||The Delta is an amazing place and staying at Limanul you get the chance to see a part of it relatively untouched by mass tourism. Because the big hotels are concentrated where there's also easy access on paved roads this is a very quiet village where tourists are still scarce. George was the best guide as he knows the canals and lakes and all the good spots to watch the wildlife and the beautiful nature while also keeping off from places you are not supposed to enter. ||||It was a wonderful...
Read moreThe place is like an Oasis in the area, and it could be a great place, nevertheless there were things that need improvement. Nothing is set on paper…. Breakfast is a buffet and if you want eggs you have to order them. If you do not speak or understand a minimum of Romanian, you are in trouble. We were aware that there were limited options for dinner, but we did not know that they just serve fish meals, we were ok with it and really loved the food, but for people who do not enjoy having fish every day, it gets very difficult. On the last day one of our family members said, “no worries I will not eat anything for dinner”, but if you anyway are paying for the half board you should be able to choose your food, at the end I decided to talk about our food options to the lady in charge and she said that they could make a cold meat platter for the people who don’t eat fish…. But you have to ask for everything. The service was mainly good, but realised that it was expected to accept was it was served for food and every time we said something l, the reaction of the staff members wasn’t very accommodating. As for the location…. The hotel has an idyllic setting, but the area around it doesn’t have much to offer, we wanted to go for a walk but were scared of the dogs around the property. We stayed 3 days, the room wasn’t cleaned, the rubbish wasn’t taken out and our towels were not changed. The stay with friends and family was nice, but the value for money...
