Definitely a wonderful budget hotel that looked a little bit like a college dormitory room, very spartan but clean and quiet. The restaurant one floor below us was excellent, but the one thing to remember in all of the small Romanian villages is that you’re often on a third floor room and you need to cart your luggage up a set of stairs that is often very narrow. The town seems safe in the grocery shop downstairs had plenty of produce and some excellent fresh bread - we would definitely visit here again and stay at this B&B!||Nearby, it was a bit disappointing that Poenari castle ruins was closed, now over a year in length since I’ve been in contact with the municipality, because there is a concern about Romanian bears hovering in the forests on route to the castle – it’s still a wonderful sight from the roadway, and the beginning of the Transfăgărășan highway is pretty impressive – if you’re not going to drive the highway all the way up, definitely stop at the restaurant hotel at the lake near the beginning of the actual...
Read moreThe pension is near Curtea de Arges, on the beautiful Transfagaran road, in one of the villages stretched over the road. From Curtea de Arges the road is good and you don’t need more than 15 minutes. You should see the pension from the road. ||||The first impression of the guest house is the cleanliness of the restaurant, because you have to go there for the key of your room. The rooms, sheets and towels are also clean and looking well. The restaurant is on the first floor, always clean and it has a nice terrace where you’ll feel very well even if outside are more than 30C. Tableware always shining, the food was very good, always fresh and served promptly enough. The prices are decent. The pension has also a small garden and a shop on the ground floor. ||||Two negative points I could mention, the lack of a shower curtain in the bathroom and the shower water sometimes has a rusty color. It's a place where we...
Read moreA nice little hotel with a covered terrace restaurant and small grocery store, making it a great overnight stop for any kind of traveler.
I honestly appreciated the high quality service and all the little extras provided, such as letting us park our motorcycles in the garden area behind the fence or providing an extra bed in the room for two.
The rooms were a decent quality, clean and spacious enough for a reasonable price (~ 180 lei/2 people). The restaurant offered draft beers (unusual in Romania) and really interesting local meals with some combinations I haven't seen before, such as raspberries with meat. Additionally, the staff wasn't pushy and they let us stay in the restaurant for a while even after they...
