I joined Cheryl and a group of other members from the LMRC (London Motorcycle Riding Club. Now hosted on Groups.Place if you're interested in joining) at The Saxon House for a 5 day visit. Other members of LMRC had been there with Cheryl just prior to us. Vali and Diana have an incredible home in a beautiful, traditional, country village. The restoration work they've carried out there is impeccable. Vali collected 3 of us from Sibiu Airport shortly after we landed from Luton on Wizz Air at about 01.15am. The drive to his home takes about 30 minutes. There we were shown our rooms and invited in to the communal barn area for some food and drinks. This was an introduction to an ongoing and consistent theme. The food is plentiful, delicious, excellently prepared by Diana from local produce and with great variety. The drinks, be they alcoholic or not, are abundant. We were having the hot and cold buffet breakfast, going out on motorbikes to ride the local passes and coming back to an evening meal. We would then remain in the barn area and pass the evening in the company of Vali who had an incredible knowledge of Romania, it's history and the world dynamics within and beyond the country. A very entertaining and interesting gent. I and another chap rented the Svatpilen 401 motorbikes while another guy rented a KTM which was more appropriate for his stature (this rental Vali arranged via a local supplier) while Cheryl and Alex rode their own motorbikes. Cheryl led our tours combining her knowledge with the advice given by Vali. We had an incredible stay and even the rain was unable to dampen our spirits I had been to Romania before and had always wanted to return. I am now planning on taking a leisurely tour, of the country in 2026 and include an LMRC visit in that timetable. If you want a taste of the real Romania, whether including motorbiking or not, this place gives you it all. The culture, history, the cuisine, the local beverages and incredible Transylvanian mountain ranges. Unbeatable.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Saxon House nestled amidst the beautiful landscapes of Transylvania. Vali and Diana, the hosts of this charming guest house, truly embody the spirit of hospitality. From the moment we arrived, they welcomed us with warmth and genuine kindness that made us feel right at home. Their attention to detail and commitment to ensuring a delightful stay was evident in every aspect of our visit. Vali and Diana are not merely hosts; they are storytellers, eager to share the rich history and folklore of the region. Their personalised attention to guests is remarkable, ensuring that each visitor feels like an integral part of the Saxon House family. Mornings began with a hearty breakfast featuring local delicacies, and evenings were spent by the crackling fire, sipping on regional wines while Vali and Diana regaled us with tales of Transylvanian legends. Vali and Diana have curated an exhilarating experience for guests by providing the option to embark on guided motorcycle tours with Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 motorcycles. Cruising through the winding roads and picturesque landscapes of Transylvania on these fun bikes added an extra layer of excitement to our stay. Vali's passion for motorcycle riding is infectious, and the guided tours led by him allowed us to discover hidden gems that are off the beaten path. Riding through the Transylvanian hills, up the Transalpina and through virgin forests on the Husqvarna's provided a unique perspective. Their commitment to preserving the authenticity of the Saxon House and fostering a sense of community among guests is truly commendable. If you seek an authentic Transylvanian experience with hosts who go above and beyond, The Saxon House is an absolute must-visit. We cant wait to make a return visit in the coming years!

We just finished a couple of days stay at "the saxon house" in garbova. Hard to put an experience like that into words. Because first the beauty of the country side and the small saxon villages that are nestled into the hills and valleys will take your breath away. The beauty and energy of the area is almost surreal. Then you arrive at the saxon house, received by Diana and Vali as if you were family. The countryhouse has been renovated with so much love, hard labor and finesse - always with the agenda of maintaining as much of its original charme as possible. Even after 2 days there we kept discovering little gems in corners here and there. The food and hospitality is second to none. The place oozes tranquility and you instantly feel as part of the furniture somehow... to top things off, Vali and Diana are advocates for the whole region and communities and people and have become part of the local society. They will gladly point you to hidden places and explain the history of the area. something you can only get from locals. If you are into motorbikes, Vali gladly throws in a motorbike tour you will never forget on his perfectly maintained and easy to ride husqvarna 401cub scramblers (trust me it's an insane fun to ride with vali... he is a perfect guide). I would go on and on... about the great foods and hospitality etc etc... but I feel I am already a bit long here.. so just trust me when I say: GO AND SEE FOR YOURSELF! ITS MAGIC. THANKS AGAIN DIANA AND VALI FOR AN AMAZING TIME. FROM GENEVA WITH LOVE..
