the owners have worked hard (and they still do, to the greatest benefit, comfort and well-being of the guests) and the results are great: this is one of the best "pensiune" (guest houses) I've been to in Romania. ||||the food is always good, copious and fresh - in summer time you can see the vegetables that you're going to eat. I could even pick my own tomatoes. the owner told me there are people coming from 50-70 km away only to have a meal, especially a Friday evening or in week-ends, and then turn back home - I really understand why. by the way, if you want to visit one of the several gorges of the area, I guess this is the only real restaurant where you can have a meal.||||the guest house is conveniently situated in a peaceful area (well, peaceful except for the dogs at night - they bark!! and they don't seem to sleep a lot) at walking distance from several natural attractions (that, of course, if you come here for trekking 5-6 hours a day or more; otherwise you can drive 5-10 min to Intregaldei Gorge, do the trekking and drive back) and at only 1-2 hours of driving from several cultural attractions (Alba Iulia fortress, Aiud fortified church, Turda Salt Mine, several nice villages in the area).||||I guess this would also be an interesting place for kids as they have a nice playground in the courtyard and as they have plenty of animals: all kind of birds like peacocks, several types of ducks and hens, rabbits and I no longer remember what else.||||the owners would be glad and proud to show...

The food and service was excellent although some dishes were not available because of short supplies (bad weather for wild mushrooms).||||The host (self proclaimed as "haiduc" (outlaw) Lucian, was present and chatty as always. Take a look in the cellar at the homemade pickles, jams and preserves, the wine and the brandy.||||The place itself is huge, with lots of places to take a look around, friendly dogs and other birds and animals, the children will have plenty to do.||||As for the food, it was excellent. The pasta carbonara could be a bit lighter, it was (for an eleven year old child) a bit heavy, but I myself tried it and liked it. It's just the way we eat in Ardeal. Also the pork meat in the pork and sausage stew could have been a touch leaner. Again, I liked it.||||We were lucky to arrive just when the wild boar stew was being made, so I jumped at the chance to try it. Lovely dish, soft meat and rich sauce. Great with some homemade pickled gherkins and crunchy peppers.||||Being close to my hometown I didn't stay over in the hotel, but heard that the rooms are nice. ||||Stop over if you are in the area and ask for the special dishes on the menu. Otherwise if you have a larger group, telephone in advance and the chef will cook for you on order something special. Like the spicy wild boar...
