Pensiunea Ioana — Hotel in Hangu

Stayed at apartment 2 (only availability for 2 adults & 1 child) which came with 2 separate rooms. 1st room had a double bed & single child bed, 2nd room had double bed, both had balcony (which was surprisingly very clean, no dust, given the hotel is by the main road) with a view of the lake and mountains and a shared bathroom. Bathroom came with shower cubicle, again everything was super clean until I had a shower and the water wouldn’t go down but was okay after taking out the silver stopper which had a few old collected hairs. Towels were provided, hand and bath towels, although not on the soft side, they were clean and softened after use. Bathroom toiletries were soaps and packets of shower gel. The hotel has central heating and hot water if you prefer hot showers. Both rooms had tv with a lot of channels - instructions for operating the tv was in both Romanian and English and some programs were in English with Romanian subtitles. On entering the apartment you have a corridor like space which has a large shared wardrobe, separate shoe storage space and space to hang jackets. Although water wasn’t provided in the rooms, you are provided with a jug and 2 glasses per room to fill from the tap in bathroom which was drinkable (this was fine with us but they also have bottled water if you prefer). The beds had spring mattress, firm and comfortable; sheets were clean and soft with the exception of a small hole in one sheet. Despite the hotel being on the main road we slept very well. The apartment was very spacious.||The hotel doesn’t have a buffet and all foods are ordered. Breakfast was very yummy, we all enjoyed it very much but maybe a good idea to ask for a small portion size for a child as every order is made as for an adult. Lunch and dinner were exceptional. I must say waiting times for meals are a little on the long side if the hotel is busy but they have games available to keep you busy while you wait 😊.||There is a playhouse for children as well as a separate play area in the outdoor dinning area. A few hammocks, adult and child swing are available. There’s parking available at the back and under the building.||Overall we had a very good stay. We found it special to see the owners getting involved with serving and cleaning, not something you get to see every day. The waiters were very friendly so were the owners and others staying there. I loved the detailing in this place, from the hanging lanterns to the blankets provided to cover yourself in the evenings if you’re feeling a little cold to the hammocks for relaxation or reading. From the desire to find a place overlooking Lake Izvoru Muntelui we reached Ioana Pension, our luck was that a room was released, and it was great! The apartment had a great view of the lake and the morning was amazing !! In the evening, when we arrived, we had dinner at their restaurant, and I was pleasantly surprised by how it was presented and how well all the dishes were made. Same thing in the morning. I'll attach pictures, and you'll see, all super good. I want to go back to this place, and enjoy more of what they have to offer. The carefully prepared rooms, everything clean, the staff very pleasant, friendly, it was a relaxing stay, what we were looking for! The accommodation is great for couples families and friends. The host (Ioana and her family) are really great and are taking care of everything you need. You can see they are precious with your needs, not intrusive but overwhelming friendly.

The location has an incredible view upon the lake and the Ceahlău Mountain and is very close to the shore. In short time, they will provide other facilities, like bike renting or active trails around the area.

The gastronomy is at highest level, with a fine touch of local atmosphere. They are one of the few with local beer (Nemțeana) but also local products.
