This is a very nice hotel with modern renovations, large rooms and new equipment. The hotel is practically new (it was built only 2 years ago).
Of the shortcomings, I can single out only the staff, more precisely 1 kitchen employee named Niku. The first acquaintance with him happened in the fitness room and then I thought that this was some kind of hotel guest. He trained in the gym and looked at us with a very arrogant look. I was very embarrassed, I had the feeling that we interfered with him and violated his full presence in the hall when we arrived. When my friend and I went to the toilet in the fitness room, he followed us every time to check if we were stealing anything from his things that were in the public domain on the bench in the locker room (although there are lockers for clothes with a lock in the locker room) . He simply opened the door when we entered, looked at the bench with his things and immediately closed it, making sure that they were intact. This was repeated about 5 times and he did it confidently and brazenly with some contempt and distrust. I do not know what was the reason for such a summing up, with national intolerance or for another reason.
Then I was very surprised when I met this man again the next day at a restaurant for breakfast. As it turned out, it was a restaurant worker. With eye contact, he looked at me with his characteristic self-confident and contemptuous look, clearly expressing his disrespect. The final denouement of his attitude towards us was manifested one evening, when my large family (about 10 people) settled down at the reception after dinner for communication. My brother took an extra chair from another part of the hall as we didn't have enough space for two sofas, one of us even sat on the floor next to the sofa. Immediately after that, Niku came up and said that according to the rules of their hotel, it is forbidden to take extra chairs from another part of the hall. He humiliated my brother in front of the whole family. To our question: "Where can we sit with our family?", he could not answer anything, he just kept repeating that we have no right to take a chair. After we began to resent such tactless and unfriendly behavior, another hotel employee intervened in the conflict and arranged places for us in another part of the hall and asked us to move to another place. That is, Niku was not initially interested in helping the guests in organizing a place for communication, but only provoked a conflict with his impudent and unacceptable behavior. We were all extremely outraged and humiliated. Our evening was ruined. Instead of trying to reconcile, Niku showed his dominance, looked at us with a menacing look, looked at the video cameras on the ceiling, talked to someone on the phone, as if letting us know that he would take revenge on us. The next 2 days at the hotel were not so pleasant. Me and my family members thought about this boorish man all the time and tried to avoid contact with him.
If this hotel did not have this employee, I think this wonderful hotel would deserve the highest rating.
Unfortunately, I have unpleasant memories of my vacation with my family in the city of Iasi and...
Read moreThe hotel is situated at the top of Copou Hill, in an area surrounded by hills, valleys, vines and recently Real Estate achievements. The view around is indeed nice (except for the construction sites), but our room was facing the other side which is more nature. The room was big, warm, cozy with modern design. There was a kettle with tea inside the room. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was good, with some interesting appetizers like hummus with roasted peppers, mashed beans, Moldavian pie. The price was good for the comfort and design, considering also breakfast wss included. The main issue which negatively affects the rating is the breakfast experience. First, the waiter who was not standing in front of the entrance, said hello and later he came after me to ask room number. For other guests it was different approach. Either there is a process to get the number before access (which is fine) or not - he did not seem to check or mark this anyway. Then, other guests were not wearing masks in the dining area when serving themselves from the buffet, there were no gloves for manipulating the shared serving tools. Medical risks and lack of measures to mitigate them. I raised this to the waiter, he said it is not needed - I am not sure that is his belief or the management belief, probably the latter, but it felt really stupid given all the regulations and medical precautions in the country. In restaurants when you could eat inside it was still imposed to wear masks when not seated, ignored here. This is a lack of respect for tourists as the hotel cannot guarantee that not guest is infected at check in. I raised this at the reception as well and the lady asked if I mean when they eat - at least they can be good for humour if not for health and safety. Inside the breakfast room a guest talked on speaker on the phone for 10 minutes loudly (happened to be in Russian, so more noticeable) , again, no problem, no intervention. I guess they do not want to bother the guests even if guests do improper things which can affect others. Outside the breakfast room a cleaning operation at 9 am with vacuum cleaner ruined all the low tone piano music. Professional service and management to be improved. The fruit juice is that type of cheap one made from powder (fresh juice is maybe too much, but even something like nectar or natural apple juice is good). Doors not isolated well enough. LATER EDIT: the manager called to apologise, to explain the policy, the nature of the deviation and the measures taken. This is appreciated as a high standard customer care and more in line with what it seems that the hotel is trying to stand for. I raised the rating at 4 stars, without this incident it would have...
Read moreI came upon this hotel based on a personal preference for quiet places to sleep and the fact that I like biking - the long distance kind...)
It does check both boxes: away from what already is a crowded city (but not that far from it) and quite close to where the fun of road biking begins: the rolling hills of Moldavia.
As a hotel, I found no fault and a lot of benefits: confortable bed, confortable parking for my car, good quality restaurant (you really don't need to lunch or dine downtown) and a superb view on the sprawling suburbs of the city.
I came here for business, but I always bike in the afternoon - make it left out of the hotel and you have miles and miles of good asphalt and not a lot of traffic.
Pricing is not cheap, but it reflects the quality. I totally recommend it - I paid around 400 lei per night in 2022 (for people reading this in the future), which is around 80 euros or something.
For a relaxed business trip to Iasi, I don't think you can do better. I may be wrong, I haven't tried all the other hotels (and there are around 3-4 also very good), but I just don't feel like checking any other place anymore. This is good enough for me.
Now try not to...
