Silvian — Hotel in Măneciu

Good location in Cheia, rooms clean and nice, but the personnel and overall attitude was far from customer oriented. First they missinformed me: when booking the rooms, they mentioned breakfast and dinner can be served at the place but when we got there, there was no option for this (they also refused us to use the barbecue grill from the terrace on our side, while buying beverages from them). In the morning, although the coffee place had the schedule since 8 AM, they refused to serve until 8:30. And at check out, the lady asked me a higher amount for a double room than the one confirmed when booked and after I mentioned and showed the confirmation she then said "it is fine" to give as agreed. As if it was a favour, not a way to overcharge me. Therefore would not recomend because you will literally feel like bothering someone at their home, the personnel has nothing to do with tourism or customer service (the reaction was always like bothering) and they overcharge you if they are...

Though quite basic and with some rather ancient plumbing, this is a good choice as a base to explore the local hills and Natura 2000 sites. The rooms are quite spacious and clean and are approached up a winding staircase with views over the valley. There is parking across the street. The strength of this place is its simple Romanian country cooking - good breakfasts with cooked dishes to order and, for our group, a limited choice of 2-3 evening dishes but everything tasty and well prepared y friendly staff. I would score it as "very good" but suspect that it might be a bit simple and basic for some travellers. Very nice and clean place, rooms are very big and well-equipped with the the finest furniture you can find in a hotel. Window view is incredibly nice, you see the mountains from every window you look and there is a nice river that passes right behind the hotel.||||From the hotel you can rent ATV's, trips on the mountains and others + it has a very nice terrasse outside where you can relax and a big enough parking lot.||||Owner and staff are very nice and professional people.||||If you are looking for a great place to stay in CHEIA, I would highly recommend...
