Pensiunea Țara Luanei — Hotel in Merei

We kindly refer to this hotel as the hunting cabin, as it is made from dark wood and had great smell of stew, decorated with authentic antiques. Once you step in this hotel, the atmosphere is captivating and warm - Old books, lanterns, old irons and more. Then we entered our room on the second floor. One side of the bad was next to the wall, so one of us had to jump over the other in order to get off it while wayching his head. The ceiling had a slop so we had to bend part of the time and watch our heads. Also, the room was not equipped with minibar. On the other hand, the air conditioning worked just fine and the bed was comfi. ||Sitting by the pool, the music was pleasent and the food was nice. However, there are improvements to be made - the pool was dirty and not maintained, cats and dogs wondering around begging for food, no cellular network reception available at all (vodafon). ||We really liked the location- deep in the woods, the gardend are beautifully mainteined and parking is free. We spent the last weekend of March at this place together with a large group of friends. We were totally 12 adults and 6 children. The rooms are a bit small but very clean. There is the main building with restaurant downstairs and rooms upstairs. There are also few thematic rooms which are separate from the main building. They are private villas with a room downstairs and another room upstairs. I stayed in the Greek room. I found the furniture and finishes to be of good quality. |The location is surrounded with vegetation, it is up on a hill and for the summer i saw they have a jacuzzi as well. |The food in the restaurant is good, the variety is good enough, they have mainly meat based dishes. The staff is friendly, very patient and very understanding. With six children we made a lot of noise and had many demands that were met without hesitation and without giving us the impression that we are too...

This place is nothing like advertised. The personnel is horrible, they overcharge, they are uncaring, very slow and they treat the guest badly. After the lady that was serving overcharged us 50% for a lousy breakfast, she started yelling and told us we can't prove anything. It was shocking. We were two families with small children. Avoid at all cost especially if you have children. The yard, which is actually nothing but stairs and stones, is a big safety hazard for children. There are 2 places near the villas where they can fall 3-4 metres. The small playground is also unsafe, there is a big concrete sidewalk near the swing where a child could get badly hurt but the hosts and staff don't seem to care at all.
