Because the monasteries Bucovina are spread over a large geographic area, we did not see much point in staying in traffic clogged cities and decided that a pastoral Pension would more appropriate. Pensiunea Tara Fagilor, nestled in the sunflower decked farmlands of Mitocu Dragomirnei, just 8 miles north of Suceava, delivered cozy, rural living, an excellent staging point to explore the monestaries of Bucovina, and proximate location to the amenities of the city (Suceava) should the need arise.||||This is a family run establishment. While the children normally handle the direct operations of the Pension, they were on the vacation, so their parents took over. Dan and his Wife were already there when we arrived and greeted us with tea and cookies. After checking in, they kindly waited for us for another hour while we went to checking out the local Monestary about 5-10 minutes away before it closed for the day. We were touched by their attentiveness and willing to wait for us during the initial check-in because, in contrast, most of our stays in Translyvania had no one waiting at check-in when we arrived, leaving us to wait nearly an hour until staff could be dispatched.||||There was a slight language barrier as my wife and I do not speak Romanian and Dan and his wife understand and write English fluently but are out of practice with speaking. No matter, we got by fine with Google translate, make-shift sign language, and simple English phrase.||||You pay for a room and the common areas are shared, such as the kitchen, where you can cook if you want, living room (has Xbox), and outdoor garden/yard. In our case, guest did not arrive until the next day so we had the house to ourselves for the first night. There is plenty of parking space on the Pension property behind a large gate; another perk of rural living, parking space!||||Dan prepared us with a map of Bucovina and two Google maps routes for each day of our journey, visiting 7 monasteries each day. This was massively helpful and a great sign of hospitality. BTW, there are bikes for rent. If we had stayed another day, we would have rented and explored the local farmlands for the area around the Pension is gorgeous.||||We decided to get breakfast at the Pension. It was humongous, far more than we could eat in a sitting, and of great variety, consisting of fruits, some fresh picked from the garden, eggs, chicken snitzel, red peppers, toast, jam, butter, tea, coffee, milk, and pumpkin cakes. They packed us a lunch with the left overs. I would recommend anyone staying do the same, given that grocery stores are all 8 miles South in Suceava.||||We loved it here and hope you do too....
Read moreLooking for a place to stay for our trip to Suceava, me to attend Bucovina Rock Castle and my wife to see churches and old historic stuff. She always choses the place to stay for our trips and she always picked the best places. This time was no exception, when we got to the pension we felt right at home, as if we got back to some dear friends. The hosts, Alina and Dan were just amazing. They go extra miles to make you feel perfect. The breakfast is cooked every morning and has some nice addins from their reserves and local cuisine. Just ask Alina for her special aubergines salad and Dan for his burgers. Yeah, you'lk be amazed! The rooms are like new and larger than your average hotel room, with a traditional look and very modern batthrooms. And extremely clean. The trips you can take there are just awesome, the scenery and places to visit are breathtaking and if you are the adventurous type you can lend some trail bikes form the hosts and go wild. The pension is well maintained, clean and even has a playground for the kids. At the time of this review they just finished a small event hall that will host local flavoured events. The city of Suceava is like 15 minutes away so you can visit some nice interesting places like the castle of Steven the Great or the Village Museum. So, we will return gladly to Alina and Dan whenever we might get back in that region and we heartly recommend them for...
Read moreThis is a fantastic pensiunea. Located just outside of Suceava, appreciate the countryside, culture and warm hospitality. Use as a base to drive to many of the painted monasteries, beautiful mountains, receational activities and quaint villages.||||The hosts, Dan and Aline, outdid themselves -- exceeded all expectations. The pensiunea is characteristic of traditional houses but on a larger scale to provide for the comfort of the guests. The home-cooked breakfasts and dinners (meals are optional) provided a taste of the local cuisine. Our room and bathroom were clean, inviting and very comfortable.||||We have stayed at B&B's throughout Europe. Dan and Aline, by far, were the most welcoming and went beyond reason to make our stay a pleasant experience. We will definitely stay there again when we...
