Pensiunea Teleptean — Hotel in Ocna Șugatag

We stayed at this apartment last week, we booked the room using Booking and found the pictures they show to be deceptive. They have an ugly extension that hasn't been finished built on the side containing the inside pool. They hire access to the pool out to non residents this means the pool is always packed with people and so loud its unbearable to spend time there. The outdoor pool which we booked the hotel for was out of action and looked like it had been for sometime, when we asked they said this was because of the rain they had but there was no effort to explain this at checkin. The room was far too hot, the bathroom had a broken sink and a strong smell of sewerage. || The bar staff and I assume the owners daughter are fantastic, they made a real effort to help us despite their limited English and deserve huge credit for that.|| We also believe my wife and others in the hotel got food poisoning from the restaurant. The room is spacious and clean just like an expensive hotel room and you have a huge cinema alike TV. Downstairs you have a spa area: both types of sauna, the dry sauna it's renewed (I come here at least twice a year, whenever I'm in the area), also a jacuzzi which is not always working but I'm not such a big fan anyway, there is a swimming pool and a terrace if you wanna stay out after you get in the sauna. Also there is a restaurant which is refurbished with a black mirror'ish ceiling, very interesting. The food is not so good, much of it is frozen, but it's fine if you're hungry. And if you want something special and very tasty (the way I like) there are many traditional restaurants in the area. I suggest you book in advance as almost all the time they are fully booked. Please do remember this is a pension and not a 5 star hotel, so you get the best service...

Although the facility is somewhat dated, this place is a GREAT place to stay for a night. Having no idea what to choose from on the menu we asked the hostess and she suggested the house special. The food was incredible. Along with our excellent food, she provided 500ml of palinça on the house...homemade of course. During our dinner the owner came over to greet us. As it turns out he also owns the butcher shop where the meat that we ate came from. The following morning our breakfast (included in the rate) was equally impressive & plentiful.
