Pension Azaro — Hotel in Oltenița

First impressions count. Money has been spent on upgrading this property and the smell of fresh paint and new carpet greeted us as we climbed the steep stairs to our first floor room.||The room itself was fairly standard but comfortable and clean. A number of light bulbs were missing but wi-fi worked well. ||We ventured into town but apart from a fast food outlet we could not find anywhere to eat. We bought food instead, returned to the Pension and ate on the small sunny balcony outside our room using plates and cutlery provided in a first floor dresser. ||A few points:||Some websites give the impression they have a restaurant for evening meals. ...but kind of friendly||||If you expect that they are cleaning the shower or use a vacuum cleaner, you will be at the wrong place. As well if you don't want to hear the in-house neighbours. ||||We arrived there and asked if they have warm water and clean room: after two hours the water was warm because they didn't check their system. ||||Two out of four lights weren't working properly. ||||The shower was leaking, so water came out of the canine into the WC area. That water will certainly be bacteria contaminated. ||||The shower head was leaking as well so half of the water came sideway out. I had to repair it which took 1 minute. ||||Not open to any kind of discount as counterpart. ||||I would go in any other pensium/hotel or else before going into that again. Giving minus points isn't possible - I would do it. ...

Right on the main drag out of town, the location is great. The food was excellent (there was no menu but the owner makes a standard, very well portioned meal). ||||The rooms are a little rustic/an old-world essence to them but comfortable. Compared to other places I have stayed in Romania, this one does seen to be a little pricey for what you get.
