We run an after-school for grades 0-4 in Rontau. For 4 years we have had our graduation party at the Perla restaurant in Unu Mai. Every year they have given us their worst tables, in the sun, sometimes without an umbrella. Every year we ask to arrange the tables under the umbrellas (it's hot in August) and every year they refuse or only reluctantly allow it. Now they have renovated the outside dining area so half is inside a semi-enclosed area and half is completely outside. Again they put us in the sun.||||Our children are well-behaved. This is a celebration for them. They come in their nicest clothes and shoes and the girls have their hair done. The total order is not cheap. With 30+ children and 10 workers, the bill always is more than 1000 lei.||||When I saw that the restaurant was doing I became upset with one of the waiters and told him we wanted to sit in the semi-enclosed area. There were 20 seats available. With those 20 seats plus 20 in the outside area we could all sit in the shade. He refused, saying it was for hotel guests only. I pointed to the tables: they were empty. He said people might come. (There were also at least 20 tables inside the restaurant proper that were empty.) He said we could not use those tables.||||One of the other waiters helped our people move the tables and chairs in the outside area into the shade. By squeezing the tables together with no walking space between them we could get all the children under the shade.||||Then the wasps came. The pizza with toppings and bottles of coca-cola brought the wasps in the dozens. The children couldn't drink because of wasps inside the bottles and were harassed by wasps on their food. They finished their pizzas, left and drinks, and we went to the park to play.||||The reason for all this is that our children are from an after-school in the gypsy village. The restaurant knows this and refuses us seating in their restaurant area. But, are children are well-behaved and polite and as well-dressed as they can get. Plus we have many workers. Our children would do nothing to embarrass the restaurant or other customers.||||This was a disgraceful display by the restaurant workers who planned to sit us outside in the sun, and wasps. One waiter helped us. The others: no one cared and that one waiter (a man with a beard) was offensive in the extreme.||||We want our children to have something nice for their graduation and hotel Perla has the largest restaurant that is nearby....
Read moreMy girlfriend and I have visited 26 countries in Europe and we slept in hundreds of accommodations across the continent (from hostels to 5 star resorts); but this is definitely in the top 3 when it comes to service. We stayed here for 3 nights; everything is clean and the whole operation is run very professionally. The continental breakfast and dinner are some of the best we've had (comparable to 5 stars hotels). My girlfriend is vegetarian and we asked one of the waiters if a particular soup had meat in it; they found out it did, but they immediately provided a vegetarian alternative; over the next couple of days, the restaurant always made sure she has vegetarian options (without us asking for it). Incredibly kind and thoughtful. The pool areas are tidied constantly; the Bali massage is to die for (and kudos to the Balinese girls for speaking decent Romanian), the rooms are clean. We had a small issue with the shower, which was fixed within 5 minutes. Prices are reasonable. The only tiny tiny complaint I can think of are the slides. The circular one left a couple of small bruises on my back; and given I love these damn slides, I wish they had a couple more to go on. There's only 2 (which is fine; it's a hotel; not an aquapark), but hopefully they can expand in the future. I can't wait to go...
Read moreWe had a wonderful stay at the hotel.
The room was kept quite clean by the staff, who were very attentive to our needs. We were particularly impressed with the efforts the front desk to understand our requirements and the kitchen staff who made special efforts to ensure that we had sufficient vegan food (breakfast and dinner). The buffet was so impressive that we invited 2 of our Romanian friends to join us for the day and a meal; it was quite the treat for them! The baths were fantastic as was the lap pool and the saunas.
A few suggestions to improve the stay of future guests: (1) the water temperature in the baths in the late afternoon early evening could be increased as it was only tepid (quite the contrast to the morning and early afternoon); (2) I was surprised that the Bali massage took place on a western massage table and not a mattress on the floor; it meant that I did not get the full benefit of a Bali massage as the therapist was unable to execute some of the classic Balinese techniques; and (3) the food was way too salty.
Otherwise we had a wonderful stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have a...
