Pensiunea La Taticu — Hotel in Săcălășeni

About in a rustic farmland setting, about 10 kms from Baia Mare in the village of Săcălăşeni is the Pension La Taticu. We had a wonderful stay of 2 nights at the Pension. The pension is tastefully decorated and the rooms are comfortable and clean. We had an AC room, thank god for that, Maramures was sweltering hot in early September. Beautiful lawns, large open restaurant. Food was good, freshly prepared and served promptly. Lots of open parking available outside the pension. ||||Location wise, it's on the wooden churches route, so easy to get up and go, without needing to actually get into the Baia Mare traffic. Though, be warned lots of roadworks in the area mean diversions and delays.||||Overall excellent - only negative was an issue with no water supply on the 2nd night , carried onto the next morning- I wish they had made some arrangements for us guests - there was no way to bathe, carry out daily ablutions, etc. We had to cart a bucket full of water to our room as an emergency since we were leaving for Brasov the same day. Altough we arrived late in the evening the host was very nice. From the start she served us the traditional Maramures "Palinca" and bread with lard and onion to make us feel welcome. The check in was very quick and the personnel was very helpful with the luggage. The room was above & beyond any expectation. The pellows and the blankets, all made of goose feathers, were very soft and warm just like in a 5* hotel. We had high expectations from this one but got dissapointed.|We had 4 nights and left after 3.|The place is not clean and they even dont come to clean the room by themself. Max. They replace towels.|The pool is great but for some strange reason they dont allow to use the room towels for the pool. They ask you to bring your own private towels.....|Breakfast is very poor but included. If you ask for water they later ask money for it. Is that stupid or what??|They serve breakfast from 10 am....which tourist start the day at 10 am...
