Complex Turistic SEKY — Hotel in Săliștea de Sus

I was there just for one night but it’s really something. You arrive by a small lane from the main road, you think you’re lost but then the place appears on top of the hill. There are a central building with a restaurant and several houses in old Maramures style with rooms for guests. The rooms are spacious, no frills but a nice view on the valley. There is tv, a fridge, a large bathroom with shampoo and hair dryer, comfortable bed, no air conditioning (I have no idea if you need it in Summer). Lot of green around, and animals, a children paradise. It’s very quiet. The restaurant has a terrace where you can eat, I had pork ribs with potato wedges and chocolate pancake and they were prepared on the spot and delicious, old time style. I had no breakfast because they start at 8 and I was already gone, but obviously in a holiday place you sleep late...||WiFi works well in the restaurants, not in the rooms. Location is very nice, on a hill, you have a big view of the town down in the valley. The actual houses are great, most of them being made of wood which offers you an excellent experience. The inside is always very warm, you won't feel cold at all even during harsh winters. Staff is very nice and polite.

There were a few things we didn't like though: there is a nasty smell in the bathroom sometime from the sewerage and the shower cabin feels a bit slimy, like it wasn't cleaned in a while. Also the service during off season might not be what you are expecting: there is no room cleaning and the restaurant closes very early. But still, this place deserves 5 stars,...

Some tens of guest houses, built in Tyrolean (or Suisse) stile, spread on several square kilometers, on a large glade, on a hill in the upper area of Salistea de Sus, plus a large restaurant with scenic views, plus a mini-zoo, with several lamas, deers, wolfs... and with a lot of playgrounds for kids: this is Pensiunea Seky.
