Görgő Panzió — Hotel in Sfântu Gheorghe

It is always welcome to come back to a certain place a few years later and see that things have not changed. Having stayed at the Görgő one rainy day (when I got there with a few kilos of mud all around both myself and the bicycle I was riding), when the staff was most helpful and my stay could not have been better, I returned this year just to find the same friendly staff approach, the same degree of cleanliness and well kept endowments, respectively furniture. We booked a twin room, but they eventually gave us an apartment at the same price, dinner and breakfast were tasty and very prompt, and the location could hardly get any better, be it summer (with two trails starting right across the street from the guesthouse) or winter (with the two - even though very short - ski slopes next to it). Rooms are neither large, nor small, they are just right, the restaurant is well appointed and welcoming, while both terraces (the covered one and the more airy one) are quite generous. The fact that they only have 6 rooms makes the place usually quiet and one's stay a personal affair. I actually liked the fact that they asked us what we wanted to have for dinner and the time for it when we went out for a walk around the resort. This pension is situated in a very nice area, outside of the town of Sfantu Gheorghe. During the winter you can practice winter sports, in the neighbourhood there is a quite nice SPA, you can do nice walks in the area. If you love nature, it is a good place to stay. ||The building is well equipped, you can see that they tried to buy quality materials and do something nice, but sadly … they can’t maintain the services on that level. With a small effort they can easily grow to five stars, but I personally would not go back in the near future. ||Before going there, I called them, I made the reservation. On the phone we agreed about one price, when we arrived there, we had to pay more. They advertise themselves on different sites, with different prices, but practically you will pay the highest. One day before I had been at another place, not so far from here, I paid half of this price and the services were far better. ||The sinkhole was filled with something and while taking a bath the water wasn’t running off. Almost everything here exceeded our expectations. The room was clean and all the villa is well maintained. The staff was the best, thank you for your making us feel so welcomed (we were a group and they took care of meeting every demand we had regarding the meals). The food is tasty and they have local products from their own farm (cheese and sour cream). The villa is located just next to the ski slopes (good for beginers).
