I had us "a cottage core'- themed week planned already half a year before the actual trip took place. For that Hanul Veștem seemed perfect, so we booked 4 nights in there.
To our disappointment, the room was badly cleaned, sheets were broken and there was zero ac! Even sleeping window open, the temperature stayed around 30 degrees.
We are flexible so we thought we can survive this, as long as it's peaceful, which was one of the reasons we booked such a remote accommodation.
The third night was last straw for us, as already two previous nights local stray dogs had kept us up with their constant barking, there was even more noise produced by the near by restaurant, that arranged a private party on Thursday night. We tried, but couldn't sleep, so around 2 am we contacted the restaurant and asked how long does it carry on - and they promised max half an hour more. Well, 45 minutes later the volume just keeps on climbing up, live-singers screaming and bass rumbling. So we call again. And again, but nobody answers anymore.
3 am the party kept on keeping us up, so we had to call the police TWICE before the party people believed the authorities.
Next day the free roaming dog of the receptionist greeted us downstairs with a loud barking and our complaints were met with an ignorant attitude. Somehow the receptionist didn't either speak any English so my Romanian husband had to translate everything between us. They were also aware of the parties but didn't notify that anywhere.
We switched hotels, and were immediately happier in our new accommodation. Only good thing was that we got one un-used night compensated.
I recommend to admire this place from the outside....
Read moreOn the outside the inn looks beautiful. Its location is also good but room prices are too expensive for what they offer. We paid 185 ron/night for a three-bed room which was dirty and the toilet smelled of urine. Some of the accessories such as towel holder in the bathroom were broken. They serve breakfast by request. The price is 25 ron/person and the food is terrible. The coffee is just a brown water. I definitely don't...
Read moreEnded up at the Inn because of its location in the vecinity of Astra Museum. Location is the key word as the inn looks good on the oitsude but pretty shabby on the inside. Rustic wanna be but it's not, it's just dusty and out- dated. Breakfast was poor, not many to choose from, and the staff doesn't refill the empty trays. Overall, for a night's stay i would recommend but mainly for Astra museum, which...
