Pensiunea Sanziene — Hotel in Strâmtura

We stayed here on our way to some monasteries and merry cemetery and were surprised by this lovely place with an amazing host, weewe were 2 families of 5 adults, 5 kids and 2 small dogs, he was kind enough to allow our 2 small dogs even thought he had bad experiences with previous gests with pets. On our arrival he offered dinner and had one of the most delicious chicken soups I've ever had with mamaliga (polenta) with cheese and pancetta. Rooms were spotless and beds were comfortable, in the mornings we went for a short walk in the small hill behind the house and talked with some local farmer. Breakfast was delicious as well with scrambled eggs, cereal, bread, butter, sour cream, cheese and some sausages, pancetta, bacon and similar.... everything made from their own farm. We had a great experience at Pensiunea Sanziene, and I highly recommend it for anyone who is appreciative of a warm and good hearted host, quality traditional food, cleanliness of place, and very good price to quality ratio. We felt extremely welcomed by both Zach and his mother (who cooked delicious dinner and breakfast for us). The food comes from their own garden, and is fresh and organic. Pensiunea sânziene is located a bit away from the main road and it has a beautiful outdoor dining place in the back, facing the mountains. The inside is nicely and tastefully decorated. The rooms are extremely clean, spacious, and with very comfortable beds. It is the perfect stop after a busy day of visiting Maramures, hitting the spot with both food and rest needs. What makes this place special is the positive vibe coming from the hosts. Both myself (a Romanian) and my husband (a foreigner) highly appreciated their generosity and genuineness. We would happily come back again.

Am avut o experiența foarte pozitivă la Pensiunea Sânziene si o recomand pentru oricine care apreciază o gazda de calitate, mancare tradiționala excelenta, un loc curat si aranjat, si un preț foarte corect. Ne-am simțit foarte bine primiti de Zacharia si mama lui (care ne-a gatit de cina si mic dejun). Mâncarea provine din gradina proprie, făcută din ingrediente proaspete si bio. Pensiunea este situată un pic mai in spate de la șoseaua principala si are o terasa in spate cu vedere superba inspre munte. Interiorul este decorat frumos si cu bun gust. Camerele sunt foarte curate si spațioase, având paturi extrem de comfortabile. Este oprirea perfecta dupa o zi întreaga de vizitat in Maramureș, si a fost exact de ceea ce aveam nevoie pentru odihna, mancare si socializare. Si eu (o românca), si soțul meu (un străin) am apreciat foarte mult generozitatea si primirea calda a gazdelor, care merita pe deplin nu mai puțin de acelasi respect si din partea turiștilor. Este ceea ce marchează acest lic cu un aer special. Ne-am intoarce...

Beautiful area, a place full of nature, welcoming hosts, delicious homemade food and an overwhelming silence that assures you the best sleep. I recommend both area and the fact that you can be connected with the nature, getting out of the daily routine. Mr. Zaharia, his wonderful daughter Maria and grandma (who cooks excellent) are pleasant companies that assured all the conditions for the whole stay, they fulfilled our dream of wearing popular traditional port and even taught us some household chores such as cutting grass with a scythe, how to make a haycock....
