Kampus is a pleasant enough place for a stay in Khuzhir. The rooms are basic but fine, beds are reasonably comfortable, and there's no wait to use the washroom. It was clean, though not as spotless as the other places I've stayed at in Russia. Tatiana and Anastasia are great and can help arrange tours, transport for your stay. ||||They have a separate seating area for meals, but it would be nice if they had more of a living room area to hang out, especially since Khuzhir is more of a place to relax. (I saw people just sit in their rooms to hang out instead.)||||It's about a 20-min walk to Shaman Rock, which may be about the furthest you'll need to walk while you're here.||||You can get your (tasty) meals here at additional cost. I think it's 300r/breakfast, 400r/lunch, and 300r/dinner. I didn't have lunch, but I thought dinner was better value for money than breakfast. It's worth walking to the large supermarket on the other side of town to pick up supplies and perhaps breakfast. ||||Warning: do NOT get your laundry done here. My pair of Nike pants went missing, and when I asked, they laughed and said sometimes things went missing or got switched or taken. No apologies. And about a quarter of my clothes came back smelling so awful that they've been quarantined in separate bags until I figure out what to do with them. (No idea why - maybe they took too long to dry given the two days of rain and became...
Read more14 of us booked the whole premises and stayed a week as guests of host Mr Petrovich and his fantastic chef, Galina.||I have to say the hosts made up the five star ranking as every effort was made to make our stay memorable.||Accomodation is basic as most accomodation on the island are, but adequate and clean. Beds are single and slightly firmer then most. Rooms are the standard small size. There are two small rain shower enclosures upstairs with one WC and on the ground floor is an additional WC. In the summer are additional WC outdoors. The cabins are on either the ground floor or walk up to the top level. Three adorable cats and a dog live here too.||Breakfast is healthy and wholesome.||Do check out their dining options as there is nothing like coming home to a hearty home cooked meal. Galina is a superb cook!||If you're lucky Mr Petrovich might just offer a snow sledding and tubing adventure!||Things to bring: A large bath towel will come in handy as all over Baikal we realised tiny hand towels were considered bath towels. Ladies might want a small compact mirror as the only mirrors are in the shared bathrooms and a personal hairdryer could be necessary. ||Summary: Thou basic, we realised most accomodation in Khuzir were similar. The service was fautless. Mr Petrovich and staff are learning English and are perfect hosts! ||Enjoy your...
