Irkutsk City Lodge — Hotel in Irkutsk

Very friendly staff a- I arrived very sick, they let me check in earlier, called a doctor to see me in my room, helped me buying the medicine the doctor recommended and kept on checking and taking care of me all the time I was there. I stayed a couple of nights in their blue room that was beautiful and had a huge hot tub - is actually kind of refreshing finding a room that really looks like the photo that is posted on trip advisor. I spent one night in the dorm and found it too small and warm but i suppose being in Siberia this is not a bad thing most of the year. The place is modern, trendy, has a very well equipped kitchen and the staff do speak a good english. Good atmosphere with travellers from everywhere. Regarding location, the place is a bit off the city centre but is close to ATM, supermarket and restaurants - very easy and fast access to the city too. They advertise as city centre, which is no way correct. About a 5-10 minute taxi ride into the city. |They offer pick ups from train station, we waited half an hour and ended up catching a taxi. |Hostel very hard to find. |Our door was broken, to the point you had to lift the entire door up to open and close it, in doing so (how we were instructed) the door handle came off and we were initially told we would have to pay for it. |No sink in our bathroom, just a toilet and shower. |Very quiet, no one else around, not social.|Very small ‘common room’. ||Staff spoke very good English and were helpful and friendly. Tiny hotel with the best breakfast chef ever. Rooms are clean and large and quiet. The breakfast chef makes the most wonderful Russian breakfasts ever. Close to an excllent Russian restaurant! Right around the corner. Front desk staff is great at getting our taxis for rock bottom prices. Easy to get to the Central Market by foot, bus or taxi. Easy to get a mini bus there for a day at Lake Baikal. You must see this gorgeous lake.
