Dove Hotel Kigali — Hotel in Kigali City

Had an urgent need to sleep over in Kigali and opted for Dove hotel as i kindda liked the name and the price ($50 per night for a standard room with breakfast). I didn't get enough time to read reviews so I hopped onto the cab from the Airport with my fingers crossed 😁.

The drive was a smooth 15mins drive with no hassles except like 6 police check points as there's a curfew in town from 10pm cos of covid. The hotel isn't bad at all but grossly understaffed with just 1 receptionist acting as a porter, checkin officer and everything else! I got in a little before 11pm and the kitchen was closed (fair enough) but the only staff was kind to get me water and soda 1hr after my request 😅 . He was really stretched as many other guests checked in too....

The room was ok with a functional Air conditioner....but the bathroom / shower had lots of black stains (fungi) showing lack of appropriate care....this is a biggg NO for me!

I was served breakfast, lunch, dinner before I checked out the next night and the reservation manager was kind enough to allow me pay half price for late...

We checked into our room and come to find out the a/c isn’t working. We asked the the next morning to have it serviced and came back later the evening to the same hot blowing a/c. We had to ask them again the next day and a tech was sent up. We left the room to grab dinner while the tech does his stuff and came back to hot o’ room. We had the request for a new room, but they were reluctant and the tech just so happen to say it’s gonna need time to get worked on. The service rep at the front just gave in and gave us a new room. Cold a/c within minutes and all minor stuff we can careless about were all there. Wasn’t expecting 5 star hotel but just didn’t see why it had to take three nights to get one problem solved. If you plan to stay here, take the extra stairs and request for top floor. It seems less used since nobody wants to lug their luggage...
