This place is absolutely amazing, well located on the lake. You can watch hippos swim/waterwalk right from the patio having dinner or breakfast.
Our tent had lake view and we had 50/50 chance of seeing hippos lay on our field eating grass, we did not see but saw one swim by. We also heard one very close but did not see.
Tent is very good and loved the configuration. You are totally isolated in the bush and no one can see you.
We only stayed one night but had 3 meals and all were good. Again I need to mention the setup is absolutely amazing. Walking to your room will most likely meet some monkeys playing around.
I would give a 5 stars but one complain is about the insects. Obviously you are in the forest right by the lake, LOTS of mosquitos/small flies. They actually come and spray insecticide in your tent while you are having dinner and install bed net.
This is great but they dont clean your bed. We had multiple hundreds, probably thousands of death flies/mosquitos in our bed when we got back from dinner. This was somehow disgusting and wish they would blow or vacuum these.
It was one small constructive feedback but overall really loved our experience there and will definitely go back if visiting Akagera park...
Read moreMy wife and I just finished four days at Ruzizi Tented Lodge. Wonderful experience. The tent was very nice. A tent in the bedroom, but walls in the bathroom, it could not have been nicer. Mosquito screening over the bed, good WiFi and a hippo serenading is at night. We had the tent on the end and it felt like we were in the middle of the jungle( we kinda were). ||The staff was small but very accommodating. They knew us by name and took care of everything we needed. Breakfast and lunch were very good, but Dinner was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. We eat at many high end restaurants when we travel and the food was as good as any of them. ||Dinner is served on a dock out by the water with a fire pit in the middle. It is a very nice atmosphere. ||Frederick, the masseuse is visually impaired. He gave me the best deep tissue massage of my life. And I get a lot of massages. ||The views are amazing of Lake Ihema. Being right in Akagera National park makes it so convenient to go on the tours and other activities in the park. We saw elephants, zebras, rhinos, giraffes, hippos, lions and many more African animals on the tours. ||Could not recommend this place...
Read moreSpectacular. Expensive, but worth every penny for the awesome experience. Food is phenomenal, and the accommodations are flat out amazing. This is definitely not a tent... This is glamping at its finest. The rooms all have lake front views where you can sit and watch hippos and monkeys wander by. We even heard a crocodile in the early morning hours! You may not get the most restful night of sleep in your life, but I felt perfectly safe in the enclosed tent rooms set up on 3 foot concrete pads surrounded by electrified fence. The rooms are pretty comfy with a real bed, a desk and small sofa in the front and a fully enclosed and fully plumbed bathroom with ahhhhmazing shower in the back. All have power although I recommend not keeping the lights on at night as they might attract bugs and they definitely cut down your night vision and ability to see some of the surrounding wildlife at night! We had no problems with mosquitos at all, although we did visit during the rainy season. Would definitely return for a visit at ruzizi- it was absolutely amazing and they take excellent care of...
