---MAGNIFCENT SINGITA LODGE! ---We recently spent 3 nights at Kwitonda. ---The lodge is on the edge of the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, where more than a third of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas find refuge. Our huge luxurious suite featured a heated plunge pool, in- and outdoor fireplaces and large windows that provide breathtaking scenery and volcano views inside. The décor is stunning with an enormous bathroom, living area, bedroom, indoor and outdoor showers and a large soaking tub. All rooms had gorgeous views. Nothing was sparred when designing the suites. ---The Lodge Manager, Grace is the first female manager for Singita. She was spectacular providing wonderful hospitality. She is very engaging and always present. Singita is lucky to have her. We loved you Grace! ---We stayed at 5 Singita lodges on our 6 ½ week trip to 5 countries in Africa. All the food at the lodges was fabulous but Singita Kwitonda takes top prize! Everything was delicious and presently beautifully. Thank you to Chef Jonathan and all the kitchen staff. The homemade breads, soups and desserts were divine! ---Remy was our waiter for all our meals and he provided excellent service and was fantastic! He also brought us every night to our suite and picked us up. He is a true gentleman. ---During the day it was great eating lunch outdoors and at night the dining room with the fireplace had a lovely atmosphere. ---The first night the staff put on a show in costumes with singing and dancing. It was wonderful and very entertaining. ---The lodge has a meeting the night before your gorilla trek in the library explaining everything about the trek It was very informative. Afterwards you go get your gear for the trek. (it looked like a clothing boutique). There is no need to bring anything with you. Equipment provided included waterproof jackets with a removable inner fleece lining and hood, water-resistant hiking pants, hiking chaps (gators) gloves, boots, poles, backpacks and water bottles. ---The gorilla trek starts early in the morning where everyone goes to a briefing area where you will meet your guide for the trek. The groups are small- we had about 8 people in our group. My Fitbit showed 17,000 steps and 7 miles for the total trek- going down included. The rewarding experience is surely something we will remember for the rest of our lives even though it was the most difficult thing we have ever done. The total trek time was almost 7 hours. ---The lodge gives you suggestions for tipping that is so reasonable. Be sure to bring extra money from what they say- because we had the head guide, 3 porters and 5 trackers in our group. They were so appreciative of the big tips we gave them and they surely deserved it. ---One day we had the most fabulous massage which is set up in the huge bathroom in our suite by candlelight. Grace, our massage therapist was the best! She is an amazing person too. ---I also want to thank Apoline, (Gear helper), Sam, (Assistant Manager) and Charlotte ,(Guest relations) and Emmy (Management ) ---We had two housekeepers- Joyeux and Jean Paul who cleaned our suite to perfection! ---Grace you really know how to run a fabulous lodge. Thank you for all the gifts for our special occasion we were celebrating. When we left you and some of your staff members were hugging us telling us goodbye -it brought tears to my eyes! --- We will never forget our stay at Singita Kwitonda! We have memories that will...
Read moreSingita Rwanda is situated in the picturesque Volcanoes National Park, home to the world-famous mountain gorillas. The lodge’s location offers guests the rare opportunity to embark on gorilla trekking and golden monkey expeditions.|The lodge is comprised of suites and villas, each offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, as well as any wild animals that happen to call the park home! Each suite is equipped with plush bedding, spacious bathrooms, and private terraces, including a well-stocked mini-bar.||Dining in the main lodge is truly a culinary experience! The chefs create unique and delicious meals using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, offering a taste of Rwanda’s vibrant flavors; the sommelier ensures the wines are of exceptional quality and offers excellent pairing advice. We sat in the main dining area, in front of a warm fireplace for most of our meals. One of our best experiences was sitting at the bar in front of the kitchen, watching the chefs at work – wow! – it was like watching a choreographed dance! ||The lodge offers a variety of activities in addition to the gorilla/golden monkey trekking; we visited their garden, where they grow the produce used in the kitchen; planted a tree to help maintain the environment; learned to throw a pot on the potter’s wheel; and, learned to play Rwandan drums! And, if you simply want to relax, the lodge offers great spa services!||We chose to trek the golden monkeys and it was well worth it! They are incredibly cute and very fun to watch! Observing them in their natural environment provided the opportunity to learn a little about monkey culture – so much more educational than simply reading a book.||We did two gorilla treks, which means we visited two different gorilla families. Words cannot describe the experience. To be among these amazing animals, to watch their interactions and family relationships – it is something that we will never forget! The treks are led by trained mountain guides who know the gorilla families well – they can even tell the gorillas apart, identifying each one by name. We hired porters to carry our gear and assist on our treks, which we highly recommend; they make trekking through the jungle so much easier!||Singita provides a jeep and driver for each guest group, who transports you to and from all excursions. Our driver, Gervais, was exceptional! His knowledge about Singita, Rwanda and the local culture was impressive; we learned so much! Our travel time was very well spent!||The staff at Singita Rwanda is Five Star! The managers, Charlotte and Max, and our personal concierge, Debi, took such good care of us, we didn’t want to leave! Dona, my drum teacher, is lovely! The entire staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful; they made us feel not only welcome,...
Read moreTruly the best experience! Service was outstanding and the rooms were very well planned and detailed. If you need something it will be in every corner of the room. Bar was well stocked with drinks for us during the entire stay and snacks too. I loved how they included a bathroom spray mist.
I stayed at the 2bdrm Kwitonda lodge. Massage beds in bathrooms was such a nice touch! Definitely needed it after gorilla trekking. The masseuse even made us tea afterwards which was very luxurious.
Living room was very comfortable to lounge at during the day and the hot tub overlooking the volcanoes was such a nice touch. The lodge also provided full trekking gear which was very helpful because some of the gear I brought wasn't adequate.
The food served at this Singita is more western style and overall very delicious, although at times a bit heavy on the salt. There's even a wine cellar!
This was such a pampering experience, not sure how to top it. I will definitely be back! You can't beat the...
