The Hilton Koi Resort is a truly picturesque escape on St. Kitts that combines modern elegance with Caribbean tranquility. The architecture and layout immediately make an impression—the open, airy feel and stylish decor set the tone for a relaxing Caribbean getaway. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the centerpiece pool is both visually stunning and perfect for unwinding with a cocktail in hand or a good book.
One of the first things you notice is the breathtaking views out to the pool and the beach beyond. Sitting on the balcony in the morning, watching the sunrise over the ocean, became one of the highlights of our stay. Although the beach itself was closed due to significant seaweed accumulation (which is an island-wide issue at certain times of year), it hardly took away from the resort's charm. The pool area, with its ample loungers and serene setting, offered a great alternative for relaxing and soaking up the sun.
Dining at the hotel was another pleasant surprise. The Jaya restaurant offers a good variety of well-prepared dishes, and breakfast was especially lovely—fresh, flavorful, and a great way to start the day. The drinks at the bar are outstanding, both in quality and presentation, and they really add to the resort's "vacation mode" feeling.
A few practical notes: WiFi connectivity was an issue during our stay, with frequent drops that made it difficult to work or stream reliably. Most rooms come with a chill box, not a traditional mini fridge. This worked okay for keeping drinks cool but was insufficient for leftovers or—in our case—medication that needed to stay cold. We had to improvise with bags of ice, which was only available from the restaurant; this made it a bit of a hassle to maintain cold storage throughout our stay, especially overnight.
While the pool itself was a highlight (I spent a good amount of time there), the experience was occasionally marred by other guests allowing their children to eat in the pool—even bringing food into the water. It would have been appreciated if the staff had intervened, as it detracted from the otherwise serene atmosphere.
On the plus side, the hotel operates a shuttle service to popular areas of the island. As a great convenience, charges for the shuttle can be added to your room so you're not left scrambling for cash when heading out.
What really sets Koi Resort apart is the staff—they are genuinely exceptional. From the seamless check-in to all the small touches throughout our stay, the team exceeded expectations. Special thanks go to Keneisha at the front desk (you were amazing Keneisha!), as well as Petula, Shalia, Kadija, and others whose names we sadly can't recall (I am deeply sorry, I could only remember so many names and facts - but everyone was so lovely). Each staff member was warm, helpful, and eager to make our experience memorable.
Despite a few inconveniences, the positives far outweigh any drawbacks. The resort is ideally suited for couples or anyone seeking a peaceful, secluded location away from crowds. The atmosphere is romantic and restful, perfect for recharging or celebrating a special occasion. We’re already looking forward to returning—hopefully soon, and perhaps next time the beach and KOI restaurant will be open as well. All in all, a beautiful location and truly memorable experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting St. Kitts - perfect for couples or if you want a beautiful secluded hotel with...
Read moreWe stayed in the oceanfront king room for two nights, and while there were some positives—like the balcony, which offered beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere—the overall experience left a lot to be desired.
To be thorough, I’m mentioning as many aspects of our stay as possible, but more than anything, I want to stress how disappointing the restaurant experience was. I hope this review helps the resort make necessary improvements and also gives potential guests something to consider before booking.
When we arrived, there was no bellman available to help us unload our bags. Even our taxi driver remarked that this was unusual and unexpected for a resort of this standard. It wasn’t the best way to start our stay.
The room was reasonably priced, but the bed was extremely hard, feeling like we were sleeping on a board. Compared to the Marriott and Park Hyatt, where we also stayed on this trip, the comfort level was nowhere near the same. While I’ve slept on worse, it didn’t meet the expectations for a resort stay. Adding to the frustration, the shower was finicky and often failed to produce hot water, which made getting ready each day more of a hassle.
The pool area was also disappointing. When I went for a swim at 6:30 pm, I was surprised to find no pool towels available for guests. Worse still, the pool lacked any night lighting, leaving it as a dark, intimidating body of water. Instead of being an inviting feature, it felt unwelcoming and unsafe, which is unacceptable for a resort.
The restaurant, however, was the most significant letdown of the trip. It was one of the most expensive and disappointing meals we’ve had in a long time. The dining area was hot and uncomfortable with no air conditioning, and the booth seats were visibly dirty, with leftover food and grime attracting ants. Watching ants crawl over the booth while trying to eat was both unsettling and unhygienic.
Service was painfully slow, taking over two hours for dinner. I ordered a well-done burger, but it arrived medium-rare, with visible pink throughout. It was dry, poorly prepared, and completely unappetizing—I could only manage to eat half. My wife’s chicken dish was equally bad; the chicken was old, stale, and left her feeling sick shortly after eating.
The drinks didn’t fare much better. My cucumber mint cocktail tasted as if it had been mixed with rubber, making it undrinkable. The manager noticed our dissatisfaction and brought us a cheesecake as a kind gesture, but at that point, we were hot, miserable, and just wanted the evening to end. To make matters worse, we were charged $18 for a side of mac and cheese that was listed as $12.
While I appreciated the view from the balcony and some aspects of the room, the lack of service upon arrival, the hard bed, the unreliable shower, the poorly maintained pool area, and, most of all, the disastrous restaurant experience overshadowed everything else. I hope this review helps the resort improve and gives potential guests insight into what they might encounter. Compared to other hotels like the Marriott and Park Hyatt, the Koi Resort falls far short of expectations. I would not recommend staying here unless major...
Read moreLooks great on the outside and it is a nice establishment. However, there are some issues that needs to be fixed. Customer service varies based on the employee that is being interacted with. There was a female receptionist (Teresa) that was so inconsistent and I’m sure not in line with the hotel’s ideals. I don’t know if she viewed my husband and I as a joke, since we are a young and young looking couple and my credit card declined the first time due to being out of the country. First she put us in the wrong room, then called our room and moved us to another room after I called down to ask for linen (that wasn’t in the room to begin with). We moved to our new room to find that it was also missing linen. I called down and let them know. Waited an hour, after a long day and waiting to take a shower. Still hadn’t gotten the linen I called down for and ended up having to go down to the front desk to get it. I was a little frustrated but got over it. When it came time to book a ride to the airport, I called down and the front desk person informed me that they do have a shuttle that can take me, for $20 USD. I was fine with that. I went down to arrange it, and the same receptionist earlier, said sure we’ll arrange it for you, but you’d be better off getting a taxi service since our shuttle Can sometimes be busy/not available. I was a little intrigued as to why she was recommending me to a service outside the hotel. Later on in the evening, on another shift, I went down to really arrange my ride to the airport, since I didn’t know if she did it. I was met by a nice young man, who affirmed me that using the hotel shuttle would be my best bet. He then went over, got a notebook and put down my request, contrary to what the earlier receptionist did. On the morning of my departure, I’d had some leftovers that I wanted to warm up from the night before for my breakfast. There was no microwave in my room, so I called down to ask if there was a microwave in house that I could use. Teresa was the one who answered and told my no at first. But then said yes, at a $10 fee for using the microwave. I decided to try my luck and see if this was true. After I checked out, with a little time, I went over to the kitchen area and asked if they would warm my food for me. They graciously accepted and warmed my breakfast, with no charge. I also enjoyed the best home fries that I’ve ever had, from this kitchen. When ready to leave for the airport, I was met by Teresa, who went ahead and booked me for the outside taxi service. It was a minivan, with the taxi driver and his son in it. I said a prayer that I’d be ok, and really should not have went, since I didn’t know what this girl’s intentions were. Anyways, I made it safely and paid the guy. Our time in St. Kitts was beautiful, and we were hoping to seal the deal with Koi. All the other workers and my experience with the other workers at the hotel was good, save for that one worker who was just inconsistent across the board. The hotel itself was beautiful and I had a great interaction with the kitchen staff and the best home fries! We’d stay here again, with some changes in training and how certain employees interact...
