Overall Saint Lucia is a pretty cool spot to visit but highly recommend against this resort. I'll give some examples why down below the pros of the resort. (cockroach videos I mention are on google maps reviews version to see) Pros- 1.Nice views 2.great food besides the wife getting food poisoning at the one restaurant Half the staff was friendly Cons- The amount of cockroaches I seen was crazy for a five star resort. Literally stepped on one in my shoe after leaving it out to dry for a few hours which you can see in my video I'll add. Then seen one at every restaurant there besides one... The rooms were extremely small, especially for spending the extra on a junior suite which I highly recommend against. Also had mold everywhere for being "newly" renovated which seemed odd. The beach front was extremely small and is choppy since it's where the two oceans meet, so you can hardly swim in it. Not to mention it's a public beach so you get attacked by locals trying to sell you drugs and excursions every single time you step onto it and even walk around the resort they yell at you from the beach. Not everything is included like advertised, snorkeling is not unless you pay the extra like we did and even then it's not to rent gear it's to do a trip on scheduled times usually once a day if they even do it, which conflicted on our other bought excursions so we missed out on that. Even the golf course was closed and you had to travel to go to another sandals to do that if you wanted. Pictures are free to get taken but cost to buy, so don't waste your time like we did doing the many pictures they kept telling us is included but that's just to take them... Put it down it was our honeymoon and they kept noting it down like they were going to do something extra but didn't receive or get anything for that. Even a chocolate piece on the bed would have been nice, not sure why they asked and said we would get a special package for it and got nothing. The rooms that were cheaper were more secluded then our junior suites, had people on our back door constantly to the beach view. That's because that's for everyone so you don't get a sectioned area so our chairs to enjoy the views were constantly taken unless physically on our porch. 8.amount of times I had to push cats off me while eating at the restaurants was ridiculous, stray ones all over and not to mention I watched one spray all over a lady's purse and dress. Then again watching the roaches run by was also unappealing while eating too. Room service is a joke, no snacks (besides stale crackers and hard cheese) and little selections for food in general. Not to mention it's not 24/7 but same hours as everything else. So why not just go to the better restaurants and get decent food instead of the basic foods you can get to the room. Again extra features that was not worth it, same with concierge. Nothing was ever stocked in the room and they did absolutely nothing for a tour or help besides fixing our key card when they cancelled it having the wrong leave date like half way through our time there... Or having the wrong meeting times for our excursions. Stalked bar in the room was very basic and had barely any selection, not to mention the cleaning service was okay considering there was a dead frog in the middle of the floor after the mopping and not before.. Many other reasons as to why I recommend another resort but not to exclude Saint Lucia itself from the options for travel but think that was well more then enough to explain why. Update 8/1/2025 Got a response from the hotel manager stating they would give a free two days credit to sandals to accommodate the situation but never attached the actual voucher to claim it and I replied stating that to and never heard back from him. That was may 7 when I stated it was never attached to the email to be able to claim said two days credit. Never responded to me after that and it's August now so about three months later. Probably won't be hearing from him at this point. Highly disappointed in...
Read moreWhere do I even start. We frequently do all inclusive resorts and have been everywhere from Jamaica to DR and Mexico but this was the worst experience we have had so far. And that too after having paid almost 3000 per person in off season. Don’t know if anyone cares but I hope people read this review and avoid coming to this resort. It was our wedding anniversary trip and it was totally ruined by the vibe of the place and the staff which was the most unfriendly staff we have met in our lives. Only helpful person was Travis who at the end of the trip took our feedback and apologized but it was too late by then - First up right from day 1 when we got to the resort and checked in Brianna was the person we met. There was another couple she was checking in with us who said literally just said this to her “we have travelled to sandals five times and last time we stayed in those blue huts and we as wondering if those are available” to which Brianna responds by saying if they are looking to upgrade and went to check with “someone” and came back after 5 mins to say that they are getting a free upgrade but room would be available after two days. Next day we go upto the front desk to ask and see if we can get an upgrade as it’s our anniversary trip and we were at the resort for the week. We were told that we will have to pay which I guess is fine and we were still ok with it as we understand not everyone deserves free upgrades as per them (although we have travelled to so many resorts for our anniversary and honeymoon and have gotten the best treatment without asking in peak season as well). But even after that we had to follow up with the front desk for 3 days straight to get an answer about what the price is and what the availability is. We kept going to them and even texted on their app but they did not even once have the courtesy to respond or get back to us so we finally just gave up cuz it was embarrassing after a point. The staff is the most unfriendly bunch I have met. Not all. But most of them. We don’t know if it is because it was off season or they generally didn’t want to be there but it was not just one or two people we have had multiple incidents that we can describe. Worst dining experience at La Toc. The so called fine dining restaurant. Well their services was nothing compared to a fine dine. We ordered the duck and it had a weird after taste. We didn’t want to be rude and say anything so I ate half of mine but my husbands was completely over cooked and he could not eat it at all. We were hoping someone will come and ask but when the server came she just said are we done here and took our plates without even asking why one person has left their entire plate untouched. The assumption is one would be curious and ask. We did feel at that restaurant the staff to be a racially discriminatory as when we stepped out or even in terms of not eating our food no one cared to ask us anything while when a certain other demographic would even leave the restaurant the manger ran and greeted them goodbye. It’s a bit surprising to see this In a resort where most staff itself are people of color. And this observation is not based on an isolated incident but we have had many such encounters right from room upgrades to certain restaurants and their services. It is quite disappointing and no matter how much one might justify it’s not open to interpretation and was quite clear. We have never had to face this anywhere we have travelled to so it was very odd and uncomfortable.
The only good thing - our rooms were always cleaned timely when we called and asked them to do so. But Overall it was such an unpleasant experience. At most of these places even if the food is bad the staff and service makes up for it and you end up having a good time. But this resort particularly served subpar food with even worst service. Our cousins had stayed at windjammer and it was way cheaper and better and I wish we listened to them and stayed there too. This place ruined our wedding anniversary & we cannot get that one week back...
Read moreIf you’ve already booked this trip and are reading reviews to prepare, you’re going to have a great time! Sandals is a great inclusive vacation company and you’re there with your love with so many fun memories to be made. Go in with a positive mindset and you’ll enjoy yourself at this resort and we certainly did! That being said, if you haven’t booked yet, I’ll give some reasons you may want to consider another Sandals location (we have done 4). If I could do it again we would've stayed at the Grande and come on the inter-resort shuttle to La Toc for a day visit. Positives: La Toc has incredible views with tons of photo opportunities and breathtaking sunsets. The staff (like all Sandals) are awesome, friendly, happy to please and help, and the other couples you’ll meet from all over the world are kind, approachable, and happy to make friends. Everyone’s in a good mood! The entertainment at this location blew us away- so much talent that honestly could have been at a Vegas show or a paid concert, and the performers are infectiously happy to make your night memorable with music or dancing. The main pool entertainment is done in shifts so there’s plenty of quieter hours where everyone’s just chilling out enjoying the day. The landscaping is very well maintained and there’s excellent poolside service even without butler rooms! Negatives: The running joke among the 10+ couples we talked to is that you have to wake up at 7 am to fight over pool chairs. This resort doesn’t seem to logistically support the amount of guests in multiple ways. There’s not enough poolside seating, one day at 1 pm there were no extra towels at all, the restaurants have long waits of an hour or so during desirable eating times. There are only a few dinner options and they are always filled days out with reservations or are randomly closed on weekdays. It’s an all inclusive- you should be able to reasonably pick anywhere for dinner, walk in and eat! My husband and I are fit and enjoy taking long walks and stayed in Ocean Bluff Suites. The singular narrow paved path to get from one end of the resort to the other is a bit of a miserable walk. It’s shared with all the butler golf carts and shuttles which are driving by you every couple minutes. You’re unable to avoid getting in the way of a vehicle or navigating the steep asphalt slopes (it literally is uphill both ways!) in cute resort shoes. We are baffled as to why they haven’t made a scenic pedestrian only path. Forgot something in your room on the way to dinner or the pool? It’s a half hour mistake walking or waiting for the shuttle. The facilities are tired if you look closely- everywhere could use a cleanup. Our bathroom was genuinely disappointing. We physically could both not fit in there to get ready or brush teeth at the same time. The slatted door left zero privacy & the single showerhead/decades old jets situation didn’t feel romantic or glamorous. They should be more forthcoming that this resort essentially doesn’t have a beach anymore. The tide on a calm day reaches the seawall. Couples were constantly told to stop going in the water- it was a red flag every single day and I doubt anyone’s enjoyed the resort’s free water sports offerings in some time. The food is a tricky one because we had some genuinely delicious things at random and were totally unimpressed by a lot of it. I would say to order multiple things, have expectation management and you may get a winner every once in a while. The incredible quality of the sushi and the appetizers at La Toc had us baffled. Clearly they can produce exceptional fresh and complex flavored food, so why is it so inconsistent all over the resort? I’ll end with the much-discussed transit situation. Bottom line is most people will be just fine. But if you have a sensitive stomach or carsickness, you’re going to have a rough time regardless of how you go- I ended up getting sick on the side of the road even from a private car. Overall we enjoyed our trip but can't say we'd recommend this location above other Sandals' we've done....
