I do NOT recommend staying at this hotel.||One December afternoon, I decided to book my last night's stay by Lac Rose before leaving Senegal. Judging this hotel on the photos, I chose it because it had a spotless interior and seemed good value. ||My flight wasn't until 00.50hrs the night after I was scheduled to check out. As a result, forwent booking an extra night and decided to spend the whole day relaxing by the lake. My intention was to leave my luggage with them for a day and book a cab for my early morning flight. I asked them kindly if they could provide me with an airport transfer the evening before. I asked them how much it would cost but got no reply to this. All these requests were no trouble for the Annexe Hotel I ended up staying at, in place of Le Clos Des Oliviers.||Following my initial request, nothing but rudeness and inappropriacy ensued. They simply refused my booking on Booking.com. Instead they wrote something along the lines of, "It's not appropriate for you to stay with us.", without giving any reason. After trying to call them, the person on the other end simply hung up. It was clearly the number of the hotel. I checked the number at least twice with the number on the contact details of Booking.com. If it was an issue of a language barrier, hotels should not simply hang up instantaneously on calls from guests.||I mentioned this to the owner of the hotel I was staying at before, and she was happy to help me. She tried calling them, hoping she'd have more success conversing in the local language of French. The representative - perhaps the owner - of Le Clos Des Oliviers was rather curt over the phone. Although she didn't hang up a second time she still gave no valid reason as to why their hotel didn't want my custom.||My only conclusion is that they wanted me to stay another night for nothing. I would have had to leave the premises at 11pm at the latest had I done this. This clearly would not merit paying for an extra night. All hotels I've stayed at globally have been happy accommodating their guests' needs on the day of arrival and departure. Clearly this was too much for this hotel and instead I was treated like an unwelcomed aunt, moving in for two months.||NOT ACCEPTABLE OR EVEN A WAY TO CREATE GOOD IMPRESSIONS IN THE...
Read moreA nice (although quite isolated) hotel near the pink lake. You need own transport or a taxi to visit interesting point, for lunch etc. The hotel arranged a taxi for us for a pickup from Dakar. This taxu driver also took care for our furher transports.||We had a nice decorated large room and a large bathroom (the bathroom didnot have shampoo or so). The hotel also has a nice large swimming pool. Very helpful staff. In night time you have to pay extra attention near the stairway (quite dark). The hotel prepares a delicious dinner (when you make in time a reservation!). Breakfast was very good, too. Poor wifi in the room. Near the reception it was ok. The hotel does not accept...
Read moreWe had a wonderful 2 night stay at Le Clos des Oliviers. Franck and Nathalie are wonderful hosts - we felt immediately at home in their beautiful house. The rooms are well decorated and spacious and have a lovely view over the lake and swimming pool area. Nathalie is also a fantastic cook, providing delicious meals throughout our stay, and was extremely helpful in organising transport and activities for the stay.||My one gripe is that there was no air conditioning. There are fans, but the rooms do get a little bit hot....but that wasn't enough to detract from the stay. It...
