Obama Beach Hotel — Hotel in Saly Portudal

I only tried the restaurant, not the hotel:||We (me and friend) arrived for lunch not too early. The restaurant,right on the beach, looks nice. Many tables were taken and there were no tables for 2. First, an employee asked us our names(!), first we thought she was thinking we had a reservation, but no, she wanted a name to write on a paper, thta's it!.||Then, she sat us at a table for 6 or 8. I know it was big, but it was late and not supposed to many guests to still arrive (and, if they were,maybe other guests would be leaving). But then another employee came to ask us to leave that table and join another one, where 3 people were sitting already.Of course we refused, as we were not wanting to disturb those guests and we did not want to share a table with anyone.||Finally, we accpeted a third employee sugestion/request: she would separate a table for us and we would leave that first one.||When we finally sat, we waited a long time to be asked for ordering.In the meanwhile,a couple sitting next to us was asking for their meal "before evening,please!". When their course arrived, the lady sent her plate back, as it was cold.||After we ordered (fish for me, chicken for my friend),we also waited long time to be served and, at the first try, they served wrong dishes.||Finally,the right food arrived.The chicken was cold and the fish was tasteless.||When the bill arrived (late, of course), it was wrong too,even if not a big one.||Fortunately,it was...

This hotel is on a nice beach. But unfortunately they do not keep the beach cleared of the all the garbage that washes up on the shore. The pool area is kept nice but is not a place for adult lounging, as there is no space for lounge chairs and too small for swimming - so good for kids only. Unfortunately none of the basic single room cabins face the ocean and so no sea view. The rooms are dark with a small window and a door with glass. Overall things are kept clean but after that the place is falling apart such as - towel rack falling down, lights and sockets pulled off walls, beach lounge chairs in bad shape, lounge mats torn and dirty. For breakfast one has to fight off flies and birds for your food and sit on chairs with bird dodo no the backs. The location is great on the beach but overall the maintenance and attention to...

I've eaten at the restaurant a couple of time with different experience. To start with you should go there if you're on a budget. There average price is on the lower range in the Saly/Somone area. And let's be honest the price is justified by the average quality of food there. It's not bad, it's not great. You can find here the most common meals (thiof, prawns or other steaks) of Senegalese international cuisine. The portions are ok but generally the quality is just ok. Drinks worth the price, the barman knows what he's doing. The service is not worth mentioning, nothing to mention there. The highlight was the band playing some jazz and other lovely tunes there. Globally not the best experience in terms of food bug if you want a low key, chill beach restaurant where you can have a good drink and listen to a fine band... Obama Beach...
