Niji Hotel Souo Abattoirs BP||---||[---]||[---]||||At first we were quite happy to arrive at the Niji hotel after a long roadtrip from Kolda. And there was a pool too!||They showed us some rooms, as they have 3 options; 1th, 2th, 3th category. We decided to take the budget option, the garden room in the annex. We had to pay 55.000 cfa for a triple and a double. The problems started when we wanted to use the pool. It was contaminated very much, you could not see the bottom. It seemed as if there was no circulation at all, and it was defenitely not cleaned for a long time. We thought it would not be wise to use it for our children's health. It was a big disappointment for the kids, finally there was a pool that could not be used. Reading the previous report, this contamination is a problem since at least a year ago!||But well, the rooms turned out to be disappointing too! In our room there was an explosion of ants in the evening. Suddenly there were thousands of ants coming behind the broken tiles in the bathroom, and marching up towards our bed. We complained at the reception, and we were given an other room. At this new room the toilet flushing was broken, we had to flush the toilet with a bucket of water.||Our children had a shower with trouble, the showerhead has disappeared totally! What a country!||Then we came back from Kedougou and had to stay one more night. The room we were given had a dirty looking toiletseat. There was a small chance that it had been cleaned, but it looked as if it should have been replaced for a new and clean one at least 5 years ago!||We complained without succes at the reception. For this price that we'd been paying and for this poor quality we expected at least an upgrade for airconditioning. The complains about the pool were not taken seriously eighter.||For the price we'd been paying you should at least expect a clean room with everything working. ||This hotel has still a long way to go. To go up with their service and quality. For example; our reading light above the beds were red lights. As if you are lying in a brothel or so.......???||The only positive thing I can mention is the restaurant. The breakfast was included in the price, and it was OK. With accompanying juices and everything. One time we had dinner there too. The food was good, but the drinks were very much overpriced. Under 1000cfa you couldn't even buy a cola! The hotel had potential, but all the rooms will have to be renovated and afterwards maintained. If something breaks, then they have to fix it! This is an african problem I think.||We were not satisfied what we got for the price we payed. Not satified for the rooms, and not satisfied for the pool. The staff was not very friendly eighter. We'd been shown a 2th level room, but it was miserable too. But in Tambacounda there is just not so much to choose from.||The price/ quality balance is disturbed and not even in sight behind the horizon.........||||There is a big supermarket just opposite the street witch belongs also to the Niji chain. They sell just everything you need, and thats a...
Read moreNot thrilled with this place. Traveling through Tamba on our way to Parc Niokolo Kola. We had left from Dakar earlier in the day and had encountered a lot of trouble on the roads down so we decided to spend the night and finish off the journey to the park in the morning. Stopped in here after dark. Mr. Niji was behind the desk and look old and tired as he took our money and handed us a room key. We paid in cash and were due back change but he apologized and said he didn't have change but would get it to us in the morning. The room was as basic as could be even by African standards. Bugs were everywhere, but that's normal in the Senegalese summer. Mattresses were lumpy but pillows were excellent. We had brought our own mosquito nets so we set those up and kept some of the bugs out, but there were so many if they weren't flying they were crawling. Next morning as we checked out we asked Niji for our change as he had promised the night before and he smiled a big two-tooth Senegalese grin and said we could stop by in a few days and he promised to have it for us "Inshallah," which is Senegalese for "IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN." Have since been told there are better places to stay in Tamba. on the way back we drove straight through to Dakar rather than spend another buggy night...
Read moreWhat do you do when it is 12:30am and there is nothing around for miles? Don’t stop here!!! The most disgusting place I have ever stayed in. The shower had worms crawling out of the drain. Stay away! They only had one room with 3 single beds and my family was extremely exhausted so I slept in the truck and they stayed in the room. The next morning my wife told me she had to clean the bugs from the sheets in her bed before she could sleep. I went up and showered and as I was preparing I looked down and there were worms crawling on the wall and out of the drain into the shower floor. DISGUSTING TO SAY THE LEAST. I am a missionary here in Africa and I have seen things, but this place should be condemned. The outward appearance was simple but looking closer it was a true rats nest. Avoid at all costs. I actually got the better deal by trying to sleep in my truck....
