We stayed at the Nema Kadior for several nights while studying djembe drumming with Seckou Keita. I say "we" as I was working as part of a staff team with 16 young people from a school of music in Belfast.||||The grounds of the hotel are extensive and based around the single storey restaurant/bar which is next to a nice swimming pool. The rooms are in single row blocks, each of about 4 or 5 rooms which are placed around the gardens. ||||My room was comfortable and clean, if a little care worn, but the bed was comfortable, the mosquito net was new, the air con worked if you needed it and I have to admit I had one of the best showers that I've had in Africa with good pressure and plenty of hot water.||||The staff were eager to help and the food we received was good, meals were buffet style and based around african inspired french cuisine (excellent croissant & pain au chocolate at breakfast and great desserts in the evening), along with main courses that were based around fish, chicken, rice and vegetable dishes. The salads were also good and had obviously been washed in potable water.||||I really enjoyed my stay at the Nema Kadior, it definitly reflects its location, it's an african hotel in a provincial town that's off the main tourist track. But if you come here with the right level of expectation then I am sure that, like me, you'll have a...
Read moreFor the price, this place really did feel like a bit of well-deserved luxury, whilst still connected to the heart of the town, and for a good price too. We stayed here for two or three nights before heading to Abene on a five week trip to Senegal. It's a great location - walking distance from everything, opposite the Alliance Francais, which hosts cultural events, and where we were lucky enough to catch Baaba Maal. The rooms are kept nice and clean - ours had a tv, a fridge, a decent double bed, a really good (hot!) shower, and there was a decent effort at wifi in the restaurant. There was also a nice central pool, which it was amazing to dive into after a hot and dusty day in town. The garden is handsome, the staff experienced and very friendly, especially the barman who we enjoyed bantering with. The kitchen knocked us up decent, if a little repetitive, vegetarian food, and our laundry was done quickly and for a nominal charge. This place deserves to be much, much busier - only criticism was that it was a bit quiet! This reflects a drop in tourism from Europe during the economic crisis that we found throughout Senegal, so I don't think it was a reflection on the hotel. All in all, a lovely spot to recharge...
Read moreThe hotel is like a little village located in the center of Ziguinchor near the Alliance Franco-Sénégalaise. There is a small restaurant on the premises that serves solid food for decent prices and the pool seemed nice (though we haven't used it during our stay). The rooms were tidy and comfortable (especially the queen size bed) but unfortunately there were already some mosquitoes flying around and no mosquito net available which we would have preferred. Service was okay but not especially kind. All in all good for...
