The statue standing sentry outside the hotel entrance is not a futuristic sci-fi soldier as first appearance suggested but a copper miner as copper mining has been the main industry of Bor for over a century. Borsko Jezero (Bor Lake) was created to provide power for the copper industry and is now a destination for people looking for a holday in the countryside. ||||The Jezero Hotel is located on the shore with a platfoirm for sunbathing and entering the water projecting into the lake. We really enjoyed our swims in the lake. For those who prefer a more controlled environment the hotel has an indoor swimming pool with sunloungers around it . We made use of the sauna and a salt room. Other facilities included a gym, bowling alley, billiards and table tennis tables, squash and tennis courts. In the area near the lake there are many points of natural interest (though the town of Bor is not very appealling). It is also within striking distance of the magnificent Roman site of Felix Romuliana.||||Our room was spacious with a balcony and a view over the lake. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fine. There were not enough electric sockets. We had to unplug the minibar in order to charge our laptop and unplug the bedside lamps to charge our phones. Although we were given a wifi password, wifi did not work at all in our room and it only functioned sporadically In the large reception area. Not good enough for a four star hotel. ||||We had initially booked two nights bed and breakfast but in fact also had two dinners and one lunch in the hotel. All the meals were buffets with a large variety of options. Some of the food was excellent, though not all.||||The hotel dates from the days of socialist Yugoslavia and although it was thoroughly refurbished a few years ago it still retains an air of a rather old-fashoned establishment. Maintenance and attentain to detail have evidently been somewhat lacking. Some of the wooden planks on the steps around the hotel and the swimming area by the lake are loose and should be repaired. Some of the plates and mugs in the restaurant were chipped. The cushions on the chairs on our balcony were dirty and torn. There was a noticable lack of staff around the hotel. There were only occasionally waiters in the restaurant. If guests need anything they have to ask reception - and we found the receptionists heplful. When we arrived the door to our balcony was broken. \We informed reception and they sent a handyman who repaired the hinges. As we had not seen anyone around the sauna we asked reception. They arranged for it to be turned on for us. There was no safe in our room but the receptionist was happy to keep valuables for us.||||We had a very pleasant and relaxing stay at the Jezero Hotel but a little more attention to detail would have made it much...
Read moreWe booked this * simple * hotel for our short family stay particularly because of the pool and spa area and the beautiful surroundings.
I'll start with positive points:
hotel is overall nicely built and renovated beds are very comfortable receptionists - especially Mrs Mirjana - are very nice and welcoming and also ready to help you with any requests. E. G. They provided us with an extra bed without any fuss. surroundings are really beautiful and relaxing and the whole area has a huge potential breakfast buffet is OK
Negative: service at the bar and restaurant is clearly not professional and not properly trained and overall too slow. Etno restaurant wasn't working (even if they're one of * the * slogans in their marketing campaign) pool water was too cold (18 degrees). We were very disappointed, especially cause on the 1st day we were told the water will be heated till the next day no shades in the hotel room no chairs or sitting table at the balcony so...
Read moreStaff in the restaurant was rude. We wanted to combine tables as we were a larger group and even tho there were many free chairs and tables that did the exact same things we wanted, they refused to let us pull them together stating “there are no chairs”. Seems like there is some Serbian favouritism that really threw us off. Cannot recommend. Staff in the lobby bar was rude as well, people kept cutting us off and when we objected and requested to be served as we had been waiting longer - she kept mumbling in Serbian even tho we tried explaining in English and Bulgarian but she just preferred being right and not listening to us. It is a big base unfortunately understaffed and the people that work there were unwilling to act...
