Read moreWe visited Brkin Salas as part of an excursion with Ama Waterways river cruise. This wonderful small farm was one of the highlights of the our Serbia visit. We stayed for an afternoon, met the owners, and had a great demonstration of local baking from the farm Matriarch, who is known as Grandma. They treated our group to a hearty and delicious lunch of stewed chicken and dumplings, along with shots of slivovitz and glasses of local wine.

However, a tour of the farm, a relaxing time enjoying the plum brandy and snacks at outdoor picnic tables was charming. The grandma showed us the techniques used in making the poppyseed strudel and then baked it in their kitchen.
