The experience:
When we got to the motel, it was a whole building encompassing the balkans feel. You can smoke anywhere inside, including the rooms, -which we had three of-, the restaurant and the lobby.
In our rooms, there were more ashtrays, than cups. (We had no cups)
There was air conditioning, set up in a way that it was blasting cold air on the single bed under it.
In the bathrooms, there was no toilet brush, and when we wanted to ask for one, noone knew what we were talking about, not because they didn’t speak English (which they did, just barely), but because they have never heard of toilet brushes.
The staff not only does not speak English, but will barge into your room at 9 in the morning, asking if the air conditioning is all right, or where you put one of the matrasses. (Shouting dušek, dušek?)
The bathrooms:
Basically everything was leaking. In one of our rooms, the shower drain was on the floor, but the floor was built in a way that the water was running outside of the room, instead of down the drain.
In another one of our rooms, the bathroom door was installed in a way, that you could physically not close it. The third room had a shower so small, that even a short person had to crouch in order to fit.
The food:
The breakfast was terrible at best. When ordering a cappucino, we were brought a coke. The ‘omlette’ which was labelled “scrambled with eggs” was an egg dish, dripping with oil.
There was goulash soup on offer, which was meat brine with Penne.
The local people swear that it is the best restaurant in the country, but the ćevapčići may as well have been made from rat meat, it was so chewy.
Overall 4/10, was good enough for festival...
