I booked for two nights but stayed four weeks! I was greeted with a drink of my choice on arrival and offered maps and advice from the kind and knowledgeable owner. It was a working holiday so I needed somewhere quiet with good wi-fi as well as sightseeing which the owner, Andrej, arranged for me. ||||The guesthouse is in a quiet area called Sevojno and only a short bus journey into the centre of town. Andrej showed me the bus stop (just across the street, return ticket is 80 euro cents) and even came with me to show me some things that I probably wouldn't have found by myself. There is a city beach in Uzice, an old fort and a beautiful nature walk less than 5 minutes from town where you can see a small dam, swim or even use a rock-climbing wall.||||This is the perfect base for visiting the tourist area of western Serbia - at a fraction of the cost. If you don’t have a car Andrej will arrange a daily driver at a very reasonable cost. The famous Sargan 8 railway in Mokra Gora, Emir Kusturica’s wooden town (Drvengrad), Bajina Basta, Tara National Park and even Visegrad (Bosnia) are all nearby. Pretty Zlakusa and Potpec Cave are only a few minutes away. ||||The guesthouse is the perfect place to relax after a hard day of sightseeing! There is a big garden out front where you can chat, have a beer or use the small BBQ. There is also a fantastic restaurant in Sevojno which you must try! ||||There is a large, open space for vehicles right outside (no reservation necessary) and a small, complimentary breakfast with as much tea/coffee as you can drink. It is a big stone house with tiled floors which means that despite having no air-conditioning, inside is always very cool in summer. ||||Uzice doesn’t have a lot of options when it comes to accommodation but if it did, I’d still choose to stay...
