This hotel was exceptional, clean, private beach, quiet, amazing spa and great pool with bar. The only let down and only let down was the food. I only ate four meals at rhe hotel (well tried to eat) in 14 days. The only thing they did ok with was a cheese board. We would drive 20-30 minutes either way to go to other hotels and dine at their restaurants we would easily spend $60 - $80 more than their menu prices and wern't disappointed elsewhere. We ordered room service 1st night there. It was so bad we did not eat a thing, best way to describe everything was microwaved mush. This was ordered at 7.30pm when the kitchen was opened, really no excuses. Next day for lunch I ordered octopus & crab salad. I complained to the waitress there was no crab. 15 mins later still no response so I asked for the manager. No apologies for not responding to the waitress. 10 mins later he arrives with a small plate of seafood extender chopped up on a small plate and wanted to tip it on my salad. I said no that is not crab, he said it is crab stick. No I said it was seafood extender and was made from tripe, a little fish, preservatives and food colouring. No I don't want that on my meal thank you, again no apology! Next day I thought oven roasted catch of the day for lunch, an island full of fresh fish how could they get this wrong! Well a frozen fillet, grilled that dry I nearly needed a steak knife to eat it. I complained but it just seems the staff are so used to it they are numb to it or simply just don't care. I just didn't/couldn't eat half of it, so bad! Then three days before leaving my wife didn't want to travel out for dinner so we ate at our hotel. I ordered fish creole curry. The fish was very dry as it was grilled and not cooked in the curry the sauce. The sause was barely warm as it not been microwaved long enough and had very little flavour of creole more like a gravy. I left 90% in my bowl, just ate the steamed rice. No one would ask when so much food was left on the plate was there a problem with the food sir? What management does not understand this is a 5 star hotel serving 3 star food. The guests staying here can and will afford to pay more for really decent food. It seems to be cost driven to lower the fòod cost and maximise the margin but if there are no bums on seats you end up with giant food wasteage. Most evenings would see less the 20% of tables occupied. If the owners were to benchmark the $ income from food (not drinks) to the number of guests they would get a shock and understand they have a problem. They own other 6 star resorts so will know how this looks against their other properties. I really think they are trying to keep prices down to attract guests to eat in and not travel out for meals. Alas it is doing the absolotue opposite. I spoke to other guests and they all had the same or similar experience. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel just don't...
