Fragrance Hotel - Ocean View — Hotel in Singapore

Small clean rooms - paid extra for a window but it was worth it.||Because of the size you don't get everything you hope for (no wardrobe or fridge)||The rather compact bathroom is set up like a wet-room but not done properly, not only is the floor not sloped t assist draining but the drain itself is not sunk into the floor.||This meant that we (my wife and I) went through many towels as we were having to dry the floor twice a day when we were finished,||||Staff were more than helpful when we had to report inconsiderate guests...||First someone had been smoking and it can't have just been one cigarette, the whole floor was stinking. They had even left their room door ajar and had gone out. A air cleaner was set up in the hallway and this put this right.||And then the guys in the next room talking until 2AM, We were given the same room but 2 floors up which meant more light was getting in and the layout provided a little more floor space. The between-room door had a gap underneath so any noise seems very loud.||||No facilities for food but there are 3 convenience stores and 5 or 6 restaurants within 2 minutes walk. ||||This may sound like a bad review but we enjoyed our stay, I can't remember staying in a hotel where some other guests haven't been so loud as to be heard in our room. I guess that is the way of the world nowadays, some people think that they will be quiet so as not to disturb other guests and some people just don't care about anyone...

This was truly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The first room we were given had floor to celling black mold on every inch of the wooden door panel in the bathroom - the bathroom is the shower. You shower directly over the toilet. The staff were not polite about giving us a new room, but in the end they did. The second room had some, but less, mold. The windows don't open - the rooms smell which they try to cover with strong (horrible) fragrance sprays. Otherwise the room was incredibly dirty - stains on the sheets and the plastic (!) mattress cover, which was uncomfortable to sleep on. Our last night the breaker box in the room malfunctioned and started loudly and continuously buzzing starting at 2:00 am - the front desk said they would fix it in the morning. The $10/day wifi is incredibly show and unreliable. It's also disingenuous to call it "ocean view" when there is no view...

Despite presenting themselves professionally, their attitude says otherwise. Kept calling numerous times 15 minutes before checkout when we have extended, making me feel like the 1 hour want valid. In addition, receptionist came up to my room to inform that i have 10 minutes left otherwise there will be an additional charge of $25. Upon obligation, I came down before the 10 minutes ended, but was still demanded to pay for the extra charges. Found out that the 10 minutes was actually over when the receptionist came up. Didn't bother to apologize for the wrong information given. I understand that it is under the policy for such situations however it would be better if they give the right information in the first place.

Therefore my experience brings an inconvenience to me as i find it upsetting despite wanting a good rest. would be nice if staffs train themselves to be...
