Great hotel located at a great location. Outside the entrance is immediately the Bencaloon MRT station and 5min walk away is Dhoby Ghaut Station which allowed me to go other places. There are a lot of universities nearby so it's hustling and bustling during the day but quiet at night. National Museum is just at the end of the road. Before check in and after booking, staff messaged for expected time of arrival which I think is a plus point. Check out is at 12pm which is later than a lot of hotels and even after check out they allowed me to put my luggage there while I go explore which is another plus point. Staff were friendly. I didn't eat at the in-house restaurant because no breakfast included in my booking but there are quite a number of eatery nearby (and a 24H Roti Prata place) so no problems with food. Two convenience stores within walking distance. I stayed at Room 315 and the room was good. As a female guest I was a bit worried about staying at the third floor cause of the open area outside(building top). Traveling female lone guests please take note about this. Pros: - Affordable for those tight on budget. Standard double was large and would had been great for couples or duo travelers. Lots of space (you can check the video I attached) - The room and corridors were all well lit. Elevators were quick. - Friendly staff. - There is a bathtub in the toilet. - Room was quite clean. A little dusty and I found a pair of used house slippers underneath the bed though. - Bath soap, shampoo and hand wash provided but please bring your own toothpaste. In the room, they gave two bottles of water plus tea and coffee (electric kettle provided) - International plugs provided meaning all head types can be used but its far away from the bed. - The room can get pretty dark at night but there is a nice large side light which lights up the room much better. Definitely a plus point here. - Safety box provided in room. Cons: - The building and room is pretty old. So old design, old equipment, old amenities. The shower head cannot be removed and sometimes not hot enough but passable. Cupboard door was slightly falling apart. - Walls and room doors do not have much sound proofing so you hear everyone walking pass or neighbours using the toilet or watching tv, etc. Light sleepers beware. - In the middle of the night (around 12am) the toilet will make a lot of noise suddenly, not sure if it's just my room or all rooms are the same. - (Depending on your preference) The aircond temperature cannot be controlled at night so it was really cold at night and I had to turn it off instead. During the day it was fine. Overall, it was a good stay not bad but also not great.

The location is the best, it's near the mrt and bus stops. The room is clean and more spacious than I expected. Definitely coming back in my next trip.

The location was great, right by the Bencoolen subway station. The complimentary coffee, tea and drinking water could be replenished free from the dining area. If you like your tea black or without sugar, maybe travel with your own supply. The tea was a 3 in 1 sachet, not pleasant in my view. The room was sad and in need of renovating. There were too few sockets for electrical stuff, phones , batteries etc. The toilet hadn't been cleaned properly on our arrival. Toiletries are listed but they consisted of a toothbrush kit, an unlabeled pump dispenser of who knows whether it was body wash, shampoo or conditioner. There wasn't a complimentary soap bar but soap dispensers, one over the bath and one by the basin. The hot water wasn't, it managed a tepid temperature but too cold for me to shower. I raised the problem with reception, I was told to run the water for a long time (what a waste of water). I said I had done this. I was told that they'd get someone to look at it I checked out of the hotel without ever showering, instead I boiled the kettle and had a strip wash. The bed sheets were clean but torn, this was at the foot of the bed which I noticed because I untucked the duvet at the foot end The bath had a crack in it, no hot water so didn't find out if it leaked. The carpet in the room looked dirty with stains, it felt dusty too. The lighting the room wasn't great. I appreciate it was a budget hotel but I wouldn't stay there again. The double bed was uncomfortably bouncy.

(1) We stayed in room #1006.When we walk into this room for the first moment, it smells like fungus smell. We didn't notice what was happening.Later, after dinner, we returned to the room, and all the cosmetics and some gift items we had packed were soaked and wet because we had put them on the TV counter.Later, we found the WHOLE wall having running down water on the right side of the TV wall and also on the left side of the TV wall, and the water was not just like drips; it was full of water, wet the whole tables and the floor carpet, maybe that cost the fungus smell. So we moved all the items that were put near that wall.Of course, we did tell the front desk, and they asked if we had opened the window. We replied, of course not, but the water dripping was serious. We only stayed 5 nights, and we hope that after the holiday season, they can fix this issue.(2) The housekeeping didn't lay the bed sheet well; it seems the bed sheet is too small, enough to cover, but not enough to cover all beds by folding the bed sheet, it's like laying a tablecloth on a table and not for the bed.(3) Shower room @ shower area- Shower Gel empty didn't refill.(4) The main concern for our travel to This hotel is how to carry our bags from the taxi arrival to the reception floor. Even worse, after a few day's stay, we bought many items and more worries about how to carry them down to take a taxi to the airport, some days we are lucky we have a helper to help to carry up our bags, but most of the time, we are not so fortunate. We sincerely wish the hotel could build a slope on the right side of the stairs so we could pull our bags up to the front desk more easily. We had no plan to send any complaints and comments, so we didn't take any photos, but the hotel sure knows all...

NOT Handicap or wheelchair accessible!!! Mould in 1 room and moulding oranges in the lobby. Bad customer service at front desk. And no complimentary bottled water like many other hotels in Singapore!

Our party had 2 people in wheel chairs. And to get to the lobby from the street, you can only access it after a flight of stairs at the front entrance! Luckily we had 4 strong men to lift them up. But it was a huge pain to go in and out of the hotel! There is a lift at least to get to the rooms. Right then and there we would have gone to another hotel, but we had a large party and already pre paid all the rooms.

But one party got stuck in an older room that hasn’t been renovated yet. They smelled mould and even saw a bunch in the tub/shower. So hope you get a renovated room...

They also attempted to have a nice mandarin orange treee in the lobby. But after closer inspection, they had a ton of moulded oranges. Yuck!

Also some of our luggage missed the flight to Singapore so we had the airlines deliver it to our hotel when they arrived. And we told the front desk of the situation and they said yes we will contact you when they arrive. I was stuck wearing jeans and a long sleeve sweater for the entire day!!! I was boiling and sweating like crazy!!! And just before dinner I went to check in the lobby and found my bags were sitting there on the side!!! I could have changed into shorts and t shirt a while ago! I just grabbed them as there was no one manning the front desk! If I could have done it, anyone could have just grabbed them too!

We didn’t even get bottled water! 2 other hotels we stayed in always gave us 2 bottles per...
