Penzion St. Nicolaus — Hotel in Sečovce

++ Cheap accommodation, don't have high expectations about it.||--- Minuses:||We arrived at 7pm, staff was busy with bar & restaurant work, we waited a bit so they could do our check-in. It soon appeared they didnt got our reservations through booking.com, but luckily they had free rooms to accommodate us (otherwise I dont know where I could've went with 2 kids (2 & 4years old) as everything in Kosice and around was 100% full due to Marathon race on 1st of October). Room was clean but furniture was a bit dated - small TV with local over-the-air channels - poor reception. Towels were far from being new but at least sheets were clean. For one hour we heard the occupant of the room next to ours speaking over the phone. Room was cold for entire night - as outside got to a minimum of 4 degrees Celsius (end of September), despite setting radiator to maximum as soon as I got to room AND despite reassurances from receptionist that radiator DOES WORK and it WILL HEAT during night. There is no 24h reception so if you have an issue you dont have who to call. We agreed we will pick-up breakfast to-go as we were leaving early, but as we left at 7:15 am there was NOBODY around besides...

Stayed here for almost 2 weeks now. It was a little mad at first with everyone turning up for the Ice Hockey Championship in Kosice but it settles soon after.

Jan is a great man, very polite, friendly and helpful. The staff here have been working extremely long days and almost here constantly to accommodate all the people here. They are very patient with us as we can't speak any Slovak and have helped with arranging transports and buses.

I would stay here again if I came back as it has been relatively easy.

Food they serve is great, special recommendation to the pizzas and also Gasdovska (stuffed pork). Drink selection is good. There's activities like pool, darts, tennis. They even have a laundry service which is really nice.

On the whole it's been great staying here and I'm very happy with how we've been treated despite all the pressure...

I used it just for temporary accomodation but clear, quiet. Pool is not included but does not matter if you dont expecting that. Close to lake Shirava and Hungary with famous swimming pools and spas just...
