Penzión Toliar — Hotel in Stará Lesná

I highly recommend Pension Toliar. The house: very modern, spotlessly clean, very quiet, all "mod cons", lovely en-suite bathroom and well equipped kitchen. It even smells fresh and pleasant! But beyond all that, the house has an indefinable "x-factor" that make it homely and cosy. The hosts: the family are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Between them they speak English and German as well as Slovak and Czech, and possibly more languages. The garden is beautiful and peaceful, and has amenities like barbecue and hot tub. The location: literally 2 minutes away from a lovely forested area with walking trails. Nearby are the Tatras mountains and the scenic Tatras Railway. Just one short stop away is Tatranska Lomnica with its dramatic cable cars and ski lifts. Nearby too is Poprad and AquaCity with its great variety of pools, spas and water activities. The area also has many historic and cultural sites. I was there in late August when the weather was perfect, but I'm sure it's very attractive in winter too, and convenient for winter sports.
