Poľovnícky hotel Diana — Hotel in Stráža

We had planned a trip to Bratislava, Slovakia, and decided we would also like to spend a few days in the country, particularly near the Orava region (for the castle). On the night before our departure we were still looking for somewhere to stay, when we came across the Hotel Diana. After some very quick research we booked it, boy are we glad we did. ||The hotel was beyond all our expectations, the room was amazing.We had booked a standard double but on arrival were shown to a suite. It was very clean, spacious, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. The decor throughout the hotel was wood paneling with hunting scenes carved in, very interesting and different. ||The food was excellent, the room price includes breakfast which is very good and nicely presented. We ate every night at the restaurant, I have never eaten so much game! We sampled reindeer, venison, wild boar, and duck. Presentation was good, and the meat was always cooked to perfection and served with perfect accompaniments. Especially the wild boar with apricots and walnuts, although my favourite had to be the medallions of wild game with rose hip sauce. My husband said the reindeer burger was fantastic too. And incredible value we couldn't get over how reasonable the prices were.||The staff were very pleasant and polite.||All in all an excellent last minute choice, we would not hesitate to recommend, or return...

The attention to design is incredible with some excellent examples of Slovak traditional carving in its decor. The room was incredible . Jan and his son who manage the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful. The hunting decor is like a museum. As for the dining I dare you to find better traditional and wild game dishes. The chef's presentation is far beyond any I have ever saw before. The prices are cheap as well. I will undoubtedly come back. It is however not air conditioned and the rooms facing the highway do get traffic noise but nothing like staying in the city. The views from the restaurant and the hotel are absolutely breathtaking. It is close to Mala Fatra park, Terchova and the clock tower in Stara Bystricia are minutes away. We've stayed at this hotel for 3 night during Easter break.||To be honest, we didn't expect much as got it as a late deal for unbelievable low price.||We've been to this location - TERCHOVA probably 10 times already and this is definitely the best deal you can get there. SKI slopes at Vratna valley are only 15 mins drive away..||Both hotel and restaurant employees were friendly and providing very high level of service.||Resturant is just amazing.
