We stayed here as part of a group of 12 for one night only. The hotel is spacious and clean. Our bedroom had a double bed and a single but only half of the double bed was made up! Strange but not a problem. We ate in the restaurant that evening and there was a good selection to choose from. We both had a chicken dish which was very nice. A friend and I shared a bottle of wine that we had brought with us from a winery visit. This was not a problem but we couldn't imagine it happening in the UK.||We had to order our breakfasts that evening and that meant ordering everything that you wanted for breakfast. Cereal, milk, sugar, tea, bread, butter it all had to be requested. I don't know if it was because we were a group and leaving early the next morning. Very quiet, peaceful and in a lovely area....

We have been 2 times in Hotel Safran in October and November 2011.|| ||The place is just in the heart of the so called Slovak Paradise, which is a huge and beautiful hiking, trekking and biking place with endless number of trekking and biking routes. ||||The hotel's location is very good. The several different trekking routes start just in a couple of minutes distance. The Dobsina ice cave is about 5-10 min. far by car. ||||The room was quiet, clean and big enough with a satelite TV and wooden furniture. ||||The staff is very kind. ||||The hotel has its own restaurant, which is mid-priced and provides tasty food for all day long.||||If tracking is a thing you like, I highly recommend the Slovak Paradise and Safran as a place to stay for a weekend or longer. We will come back again...

I could not agree more on the comments below from other visitors. Excellent service, supportive staff and tasty food. Also there is a possibility to use sauna and jacuzzi which is a welcoming activity after a long and exhausting day of hiking. Considering this and the reasonable prices, I can undoubtedly recommend booking holiday in Penzión Šafrán.
