We stayed in this hotel at the end of September 2018 for the price of ~ €170 per room (2 people) per 2 nights with breakfast. It may sound little but in comparison to other places in the region, it is not negligible. ||||The hotel is in the prime location, however, the owner(s) and/or operator(s) are totally disrespectful to this location and to their guests. This hotel is in completely wrong hands and is badly managed. Owners "sit" on a potential "mother lode" but they are either unaware or ignorant. ||||Terchova/Vratna valley is very popular for Slovaks as well as for Czechs. We have spent 2 nights during the time when Czechs celebrate St. Wenceslas (bank holidays) and Terchova/Vratna valley was packed with Czech tourists (it took us almost 2 hrs to get from Terchova to Zilina by car on Sunday afternoon, normally it takes about 45 minutes). I really felt ashamed that they had to put up with such poor services. Especially, if they paid the same price as us. ||||Breakfast was mostly based on what you could buy from nearby Lidl. Absolutely no effort from hotel/restaurant management to offer something local or "homemade". Overall, the hotel was worn out, the room could not be less inviting. We tried to spent as less time there as possible. The only reason we booked this hotel was that nothing else was available for given dates. I honestly don't know how they can survive here but they do. Probably by accommodating tourist "overflow" when all other hotels are fully booked.||||This hotel, in a certain way, represents the average level of hospitality you get in Slovakia, both accommodation and restaurants. It also reflects, to certain extent, how people in Slovakia value their guests. Undoubtedly, the nature is beautiful but Slovaks generally treat their country badly. If you visit places like open-air museums of traditional architecture (Zuberec - Brestova, Nova Bystrica, Pribylina or Martin) you will understand how rich architectural history there is in Slovakia, however, only in museums. ||||I really wish that tourism services are provided by people who are educated and trained. The best, in Austria or in nearby Zakopane (Poland). ||||The owner(s) should consider selling this place to someone who can put his/her heart and soul...
Read moreWe (4 hikers) did stay @ hotel Gold for 3 nights in oct 2007. We did book our two rooms (bckfst only) by email. The reservation was easy and the conversation was friendly. Upon arrival - owing to low season - the hotel was close to emtpty. So we dared to ask whether we could change to 2 appartments that were offered at low rate. It was not possible. The only thing we were told was that the apps. don't have a balcony. This indicated that our rooms DO have a balcony - which they didn't. It must be stressed that a language problem might have led to all this - so not all their fault.||||The whole hotel was sort of dingy (dirty would be too strong). The upper floor of the hotel bar did look like a room after a party with a bunch of teenagers. In the Restaurant, the tablecloths were full of stains and over the whole stay we felt sort of bothersome to the staff. The rooms were ok and the fair wooden balks do create a cosy atmosphere. The bathrooms were ok but it was also evident, that they would need a more intense cleaning from time to time. The fridge was not plugged in in both rooms. Room cleaning did not happen at all, despite there acutally was a cleaner in the house. They did not provide new toilett rolls - not talking of doing beds or something. No mayor problem. But it added to our feeling of not being wellcommed. And there was that thing with the garden. The webpage does praise the "world famous" hotel garden to be one of the region's main attractions. Well - we did not choose the hotel for it's garden. But it is worth to mention that this 8th world wonder is nothing but a few huts beyond their best days, next to the littered hotel parking. ||||The hotel might do better in high season. I even would return for a short stay. The landscape is great and one can not expect a 5 star service for the low price they charge. But the village provides a number of small + cosy pensions. I would rather stay in one of those. The small + friendly tourist office in Terchova can provide good...
Read moreStuff:||We had a very warm welcome from the lady on reception (Marika) who has a neverending patience and she loves kids. Our small one was all the time with her (asking something) even she had a lot to do.||Manager of the hotel seemed to me a nice guy dedicated to his work, and he was helping out to all, even to my wife carring with her to much in her hands.|| ||Food:||Brilliant! All homemade, tastefull like from my mum. Yumi. Luckily, as we were the only guest in the hotel(unfortunatelly only for couple of days) chef came to our table asking what we would like to have for Breakfast, lunch and dinner for the rest of the stay.||||Rooms:||Clean, spacious, warm. There were some complaints on backpain due to very thin matraces (please bear in mind that guys were stucked in bed for two days due to flu, those who had some activities during the day all was ok).||||I would highly recommed to use the ski instructor suggested by the hotel, very friendly and also very patient, my small one had a laugh all the time and she loved her.||||The only negative i had during the stay was that personal left the (tipsy noicy) guests in the restaurant after 10pm and they did not asked them to move to the bar which was not above the hotel rooms. The noice was heared into the rooms(apartments only as they are situated right above the restaurant)||||||However, i would rec this hotel to all who have kids (as there is everithing what you would need, "even a buggy" to...
