A grand discovery. Don't let the 6 K long, bumpy ride up there mislead you, behind the last bend is a nature heaven on earth, wood ridden, well maintained lodge that must cspture all nature lovers' hearts. The staff is friendly and inquisitive. At night and in the morning, nature's sounds is all to be heard. Choice of breakfast landed me a tasty ham&eggs, quasi solo on the sunnt terrace outside. Young sheep are this outlet's natural response to EU's sharp noise emission standards for lawn mowers. Inside, the dwelling rooms & facilities are somewhat rudimentary, but correct and clean, with joint toilet and shower rooms in the hallway. But that is a slight discomfort when enjoying the unique location, amid the steep forests and 2/3rds the way of one of Slovakia's hardest bike climbs (in seventh place, according to the young manager). One notes the (young) staff is not used to international visitors yet, but that certainly is not unique to this venue in today's Slovakia. Prices for food and drink are probably a tad over the Slovakian average, but bear in mind , just like for a ski lodge, all foods etc. have to be hauled up the mountain (yep, over that bumpy winding ralley road). I had a dinner goulash (excellent), ham&eggs breakfast (wholesome), in an unsurpassed environment, and returned for lunch: all were good wholesome and made with natural ingredients. Any place touting in its menu they do NOT serve FAST food, is a friend of mine! Given its location, the lodge offers, to all its guests, specific services to bikers: a loading station (for e-Bike batteries as well as smart phones), a separate fosset to fill your bidons, and a bike parking. It is a shame not many more foreign guests try out this wonderful venue. I loved it, even with its minor discomforts (like the lack of Wifi, ot the...
Read moreInovec cottage is a fully renovated set of rustic cabins deep and high in the hills near Trenčín.
Quite a popular spot because of its location and plenty of activities (biking, hiking, collecting mushrooms, etc.) in the area. This resort is accessible through 7 kilometers of mildly ascending road in quite a bad condition. With that said, you will not need anything special to drive on it, just take into account you will have to go slower - I made it on a road motorbike during heavy rain with no issues at all.
On my arrival, I ran into two issues straight away - First off, they only accept cash, which was a problem, because I just crossed the country border from Czechia and had no time to go looking for ATMs in the distant cities as it was getting dark and dangerous to keep riding. I was also hungry and thirsty. It did get resolved by a complicated SEPA wire transfer the next day, but I just don't understand WHY a place like this does not accept cards (and yes, there is a signal).
Secondly, I got a room with twin beds, even after I sent them a message we are coming as a couple. Yes, the reservation said "double-bed OR twin bed" in the description, but the image clearly showed a double-bed and who the hell wants to get assigned one or the other by random? Just create two separate categories for the same price and let the guests choose, stop complicating things.
Despite all that and higher prices for food and drinks, the accommodation, service, restaurant, location and especially interior decors are all great and it was definitely worth the visit.
REPLY to the owner: I made the wire transfer of the money I owed you online from my phone while standing literally in front of your cashier. Please, 100% coverage of your entire property is a...
