This is a beautiful establishment, somewhat situated off the beaten path. The chateau is beautiful, utilizing extensive expensive materials such as marble and granite. We selected a Prestige suite in the main building. Heavily decorated to the point that there was just too many pieces of furniture within the suite, rendering a tight bodily fit, especially near the dining room table. The first night the a/c was not working well, but upon telling them, it was corrected. Large tub but we Americans like a shower and this one was not good at all. A tiny little square with a shower curtain. A hand held shower which if you touched it by mistake would fall down and shoot water everywhere. It may be the standard here, but it is not what we enjoy. Also there were separate hot and cold fixtures. For a suite, it was a small bathroom. The toilet/ bidet is in another room which I do not think is a good idea. After using the toilet, you have to go into the bathroom to wash. If someone is in there you stand outside with contaminated hands. The food: Breakfast is fabulous! Produce is from their establishment or local. Great eggs and Mangalista pork, a special breed of pig. The bacon from it is fabulous, while the sausage is a bit spicy and oily, sort of like chorizo. A bountiful full breakfast with a beautiful place setting. Dinner: once in the main restaurant and once in a special room called the 101 candles. It did not have that many candles, and I asked & was told because it would be too hot. It may have annoyed some, but we understood. All six courses were expertly prepared and delicious, again utilizing the farm to table concept. All food is very reasonably priced. Patrik our waiter both evenings, served elegantly and was very congenial. He is to be commended. Spa: Have the Haman- special service that is a hot whirlpool, followed by a steam room, followed by a scrub and soapy massage. Unique and within a luxurious environment of tile work, marble, and decor. The Middle Eastern music took you to another place. Pool: Olympic sized with lots of elegant seating surrounding. Terrific exercise room and many seating areas within the indoor pool. To note: Extremely clean pool, spa, restaurant, room- everything is impeccable. Hotel had some road noise and a faint odor outside here and there from apparently local families with pigs. Overlook it and take in the greater aspects of the resort. Excellent except for the shower and separate toilet that should be better in the most expensive accommodations within...
Read moreMy wife booked us into two nights in Chateau Amada. None of us had heard of it as up until now, our favourite resort was in the Tatras. As soon as we pulled up, very favourable you surprised . The beautiful home , the nice bellman , the beautiful rooms- it was a small jewel that brought you back in time . The rooms were very nice - Save for the smell from the cigar room which was overpowering at first and which they momentarily fixed . The hotel was a great blend of old and new . The wellness was excellent - our first introduction to the oft mentioned Christian who was indeed super helpful . The dinner and the breakfast were absolutely spot on - local yet refined and delicious. ||||||The two disappointments - the second night - I was woken up at 1:30 am by rattling vents . Tried turning off heater - no avail - we knew there was no point complaining as we couldn’t change rooms and I am not sure anyone would fix it then . Needless to say , couldn’t sleep until the morning .||||Second , We extended our stay by a few hours - attracted by the description of the great Sunday buffet - unfortunately it was hugely disappointing - especially after the refined breakfast and dinner - this was a huge let down . My wife mentioned that it was maybe designed for the local community but for the description and price I am not sure - up to then everything was worth it and did a great job blending local and modern cuisine , old and new architecture ... if they had those two correct it would have been one of our best weekends.||||Special mention to the restaurant waiting staff and the wellness...
Read moreLovely hotel, very friendly staff, great garden, amazing spa. |Food was delicious, congratulations to the chef!!! |The breakfast buffet variety was not so great, needs to be improved to stand the high standards of the hotel. |The interior design was on spot, every single detail was given great attention. |The beds on the other hand could be bigger and better mattresses should have been chosen. |Amenities were left only once during our 4 days stay. Good we had our own. I know you can always ask, but also they should always replace it when empty, so no excuse. ||We really liked it and enjoyed it and recommended it to our friends. ||The only downside were the ants, they were everywhere in the bathroom and most probably in the room as our daughter ended up all in bites. That is the only reason why we will not visit again in near future. |If it hadn’t been that we would gladly...
