During our 2,000-mile road trip through Slovakia and neighboring countries, we decided to pull by hotel Palace Tivoli and stay for a night. It was a completely random decision to choose from, perhaps, a hundred or more available hotels in that area, yet one that produced a rather memorable experience. As it turned out, Tivoli was under new management purchased a couple of days earlier. So new, in fact, that a supply of beer to hotel’s restaurant did not even have time to fully chill by the time we arrived.|| ||The story of new ownership and management is quite interesting. After working overseas for many years in some of prestigious hotels in Asia, a hospitality industry professional Matus returned to Slovakia and together with a jolly chef, Ladislav, took over Palace Tivoli operations. The chef also contributes with his international experience having worked overseas and meals reflect that experience. Combined, they have provided us with a superb customer service and excellent food (Ladislav prepared for us two excellent steaks with asparagus and sweet potato fries, after lovely bean soup that served as an appetizer). If they could pull that off on their first day, I can only imagine how well they will do it in future.||||The future will involve expansion of offers and investment in improvements in and the around hotel. The building is a historical place; any changes in outside appearance must satisfy legal regulations and requirements. For the inside of the hotel and the grounds, however, the management has a long-term plan for improvements, both functional and aesthetic. When we return to Slovakia and visit Vysoke Tatry again we may witness that change, because Palace Tivoli will be our...
Read moreProbably the friendliest staff I have ever experienced, great travel tips, warm reception and positive atmosphere are the highlights of our stay.
There is also great food, but you'll probably get pretty modest portions at the dinner table that won't quite do it after an active day of skiing or hiking. Breakfast buffet does not share this problem, but the choice is pretty modest as well. There is also great choice of music in the dining room at all times, which sometimes may get a little too repetitive when the same songs are playing every day at the same time at breakfast.
We've gotten into a little bit of a misunderstanding with the online presentation of the rooms which resulted in a little bit of a disappointment after seeing where we were supposed to stay, but the manager was extremely nice and empathetic and allowed us into a better room a few days later free of charge.
There are amazing trip opportunities courtesy of the modern electric train station just a few minutes from the hotel. We've traveled all over the Tatras in just one week and it was truly amazing. Looking forward to the...
Read moreWe stayed at this lovely hotel for 5 nights. Umeshwar was an incredible host, who not only was a pleasure to talk to but also kept our meal warm for us (and served it in our room), when we missed our train and were late for dinner. The buffet in the morning and evening isn’t huge and only lasts an hour…but it has everything one could need and the food is delicious (especially the pancakes). Little extras like billiard and especially darts are also very fun!
Our room wasn’t huge but it fit us two well enough, was clean and quite charming – and the conservatory was a nice addition. Sadly there’s no HOT water after like 9(?)pm. It’s still warm but not hot enough for a comfortable bath – at least for us.
The hotel is next to the train tracks and 3min from the train station. But you can’t really hear the train when the windows are closed. There’s also a bus station nearby and a lot of nature – perfect for hiking!
Overall we would stay at the Tivoli again, there’s still so much of Vysoké...
