Turistična kmetija Domen, Guesthouse Zorko B&B — Hotel in Šmarješke Toplice

We went to this gostilna twice during our summer visit. It has a great patio built that's over a babbling stream with a roof for cover from the hot summer sun (or errant thunder storms). They have 6 large tables, great for big groups.

Hard to explain, but by the way the orders were taken and food came out, it very much appeared that all the food was made fresh to order. It definitely showed, highly recommend the beef (broth) soup. The 5 of us ate quite a wide range of their food, it was all fantastic; the mixed grill was huge and the meats were perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. The fish (large locally caught trout) was also perfectly cooked, delicate and tasty and very fresh... not a 'fishy' taste/smell at all. Being North American expats, we couldn't resist trying what Slovenian fried chicken was like...again, perfectly cooked, quality chicken (likely locally produced), tasty batter that wasn't too salty. Don't skip the salads either... on a hot summer day, the ridiculously thin sliced cabbage has great texture, and all the produce is so fresh that the very light dressing lets them speak for themselves.

Il posto non corrisponde alle immagini e i servizi annunciati non ci sono. Il giorno dell'arrivo tramite messaggio siamo stati informati che il ristorante era chiuso, ma abbiamo trovato una valida soluzione nei dintorni grazie al suggerimento del proprietario. All'arrivo abbiamo trovato la struttura in uno stato che sembrava di abbandono e alcune persone all'interno di quello che doveva essere il ristorante che facevano merenda al buio, alla prima richiesta di informazioni ci rispondono solo che la struttura era chiusa. Siamo usciti e abbiamo provato a chiamare il numero segnalato all'esterno, al quale non ha risposto nessuno nonostante i ripetuti tentativi, abbiamo tentato di mandare un messaggio senza successo per la mancanza di rete dati in quel momento. Ho provato a cercare una rete wifi, che è segnalata nei servizi offerti dalla struttura, ma non c'era. A quel punto abbiamo provato nuovamente a chiedere alle persone all'interno che questa volta ci hanno segnalato il numero che stavamo già chiamando senza successo. All'ennesimo tentativo ci risponde un signore che ci dice di salire e entrare nella camera che avrebbe mandato la figlia per il check-in. Entriamo nella struttura, piuttosto datata e non proprio rispondente alle foto pubblicate, ma all'apparenza abbastanza pulita anche se pervasa da un forte odore di umidità. La camera è semplice, la televisione non funzionante e i prodotti igienici, che dovevano essere inclusi, assenti. Scrivo al proprietario dopo circa 30 minuti (nel frattempo la figlia non si era ancora presentata) per chiedere se può fornire i prodotti e mi risponde che li avrebbe portati la figlia. Dopo ulteriore attesa, nel mentre avevamo una certa fame ed era ora di cena (tra l'altro non essendo presente un servizio di portineria e non avendo la chiave di ingresso non sapevamo nemmeno fino a che ora era possibile rientrare), scrivo al proprietario per chiedere a che ora pensavano di farci fare il check-in visto che volevamo andare a cena. Lui non risponde al messaggio ma poco dopo arriva una signora che ci lascia un balsamo e una crema corpo e va via senza lasciarci modo di chiedere nulla né di consegnare i documenti e espletare le formalità. Davvero poco...

We loved the warm atmosphere and the location of the guesthouse! Super close to the highway, yet sufficiently distant so that one can hear only the sound of nature and nothing else. Room was very spacious and cosy. It was so easy reaching Smarjeske Toplice, the thermal spa center, the beautiful natural hypothermal spring Klevevz, Otocec and many others all reachable on foot, by bicycle (that the guesthouse lends to the guests for free) or by car. Zorko was an amazing host, very pleasant to talk to, willing to help at any point! We also enjoyed his breakfast very much! I am sure to repeat a stay with my...
