Hotel A plus — Hotel in Žalec

Unfortunately I can't tell you what the rooms look like, we didn't get to see them. We wanted to make a stopover in Slovenia on our way back from Croatia. We had reserved two rooms, by phone. And everything was fine. There was a lot of traffic jam at the border to Slovenia, we stood there for about 3 hours and called the „Hotel A“ again to inform them that we would arrive late at night. The lady at the reception reassured us with: "no problem, we have 24h check in, we will wait for you". Around 3 o'clock in the night we finally arrived at the hotel, very exhausted and very tired, we had a very long and exhausting day. And now our surprise: at the reception they said that our reservation has been cancelled!!!! The owner of the hotel had probably given the order to cancel our reservation, although we had called shortly before to make sure that everything was OK. They have allegedly called us about 20 times without success. Which is a lie. We did not receive a single call!!! Unfortunately for us, the hotels in the WHOLE!!! surrounding area were fully booked! And finding a room in the middle of the night was hopeless. The man at the reception tried to help and find us an alternative hotel, but to no avail. We really travel a lot and we have never experienced anything like this! So we were left in the middle of the night without accommodation. The hotel may have nice rooms, but humanity doesn't seem...

I booked this hotel with the expectation that it would be very nice. It was just okay. The rooms are nice, but the floor in mine was wood and felt sticky. The shower was nice, overhead rain type. The claim to fame was the soundproof rooms, but it sounded like people were moving heavy furniture the entire time I was there. It is also VERY FAR away from Celje. You have to take a taxi into Celje (no bus or train nearby) and it took 30 minutes for taxi to get there, then 30 minutes for drive into town. The staff was very short with me in every interaction, acted almost annoyed to assist me. They were never outwardly rude per se, but there were famous athletes staying at the same time as me and the difference in how they were treated was absolutely noticeable. Their restaurant/bar was a complete separate building and was pizza and Mexican themed - it was odd. It was also packed and not very welcoming - staff and patrons included. The bed was very comfortable. This might be an OK stay from the airport if no interest in Celje, or surrounding areas. But for the exorbitant price, I expected luxury and it was at best, kind of comfortable. I would not stay here again...

24/7 reception, great for late night travelers who need to check in in early morning hours, parking is provided, location is great for travelling due to proximity to the highway. Food and service were top notch, got nothing to say negatively. Rooms are good, spacious enough to feel luxurious while small enough to be easy to navigate. I see by other guests that hotel is pet and child friendly too! Lots of vegetarian breakfast options(eggs, vegetables etc) which helped me out a ton due to my diet, I am guessing due to ambundance of fruits and vegetables during breakfast you could make yourself vegan breakfast too if that's your style, alternative milks avaliable too, lots of spices and seeds+ canned fruits/vegetables, great for people who eat raw fruit diet as well. Thank you for being so thoughtful during breakfast so vegetarians/vegans and others who don't eat meat also have options. There is of course, also meat being served if that's what you prefer. Complimentary items are also servicable. No issues...
