Prenočišča Tratnik — Hotel in Ajdovščina

I always love a place with a story and this is definitely one - The restaurant and a hotel is run by the same family for generations, so you are staying in authentic, hospitable and caring 100% true Slovenian home.

The food in the restaurant (cooked by the son Tomi and served by his girlfriend) is also a treat. I had a deer goulash with traditional hand made dumplings and being a proud Czech, I can honestly and openly state wow - it was freaking good.

I also joined locals for a few beers in the evening and even though they speak little English, I had tons of fun and they have taken care of me like I was one of their own.

If you're not afraid to ingest a bit of Slovenian culture, stay at Tratnik and you'll have a really nice time. Guaranteed.

During a cycling trip through the West of Slovenia, i stayed for one night at the Gostilna Tratnik. Rooms are simple and you have to share the bathroom with the other guests. But everything is very clean, the beds are good and the pricing is fair. Best thing about this place are the people who run it. So hearty and nice, very helpful and always trying to make you a great stay at their place. They even cooked something vegetarian for me, which was delicious. If i would ever pass Col again, i would stop at the Gostilna Tratnik and i recommend you...

Wonderful restaurant tucked away up on the mountain! Everything was excellent, from the drinks to the food to the dessert. Owner was extremely hospitable and friendly; all restaurants should be like this! I only wish we had a better view while eating of the landscape, but it comes with the travel...
