On Saturday we (=husband, 2 kids and a dog) went hiking to Pokljuka. After visiting most of the sights and enjoying nature, we figured one day is not going to suffice for what we wanted to see, so we decided to stay for an extra day. It was getting dark so we went to the first hotel, which was Hotel Center. The receptionist was so incredibly kind: he gave us a room with 2-extra beds for our children (free of charge) and they welcomed our dog (most of the hotels have a strict no pets policy). We came to dinner at 9pm and still they fixed extra vegetarian dishes for me: a lovely vegetable soup, grilled cheese and also had an awesome fish&crab risotto in the self-service food area. The dessert was a apple strudel, which even the Austrian co-guests at the hotel couldn't get enough of :) I have never felt so welcome in any (not even the 5*) other hotel in my life: it was not just the receptionist, but also the lady that was overlooking the breakfast and the chef that prepared me this extra dinner at such a late hour. The free parking is right in front of the hotel. This time of year, there is 30 degrees in Ljubljana, but in Pokljuka they have 24 degrees which is perfect. I hope they keep the current...
Read moreNow, this only applies to ski teams staying at this hotel for the duration of the competitions.||||The waiters and receptionists are all extremely friendly and very helpful, there is nothing to complain about.||||A big minus, however, is the food that the athletes can take from the buffet. The main ingredient of the meals is meat, which is offered twice a day in various combos - this is already too much for an average person and even more so for athletes. However, this is the only form of protein source, as vegetarian options are severely lacking. There are enough side dishes, but 90% of them are deep-fried, so they are not right for these kind of days either. ||It would be a big improvement for the hotel to think more about the nutritional value of the food for athletes and provide it in both a "normal" and...
Read moreExcellent hotel with perfect position for active holidays in mountains. Staff is very attentive and helpful. Kids loved being in the center of the attention everytime they saw someone. We were in big suite, which was bigger than usual 3 star, but the other room was perfectly fine for a 3 star hotel. There are a few minor fixes to be done like handles in elevator or cracks on edges of the walls, but it was very clean and beds were comfortable. There are extra pillows if you do not like the default one. Food was delicious and also selection was there for possible vegetarians/vegans. Breakfast was usual selection with warm dishes as well. Everything is well set for a sports camp as well as sports teams that want to be in center of the...
