Can’t say enough about this lovely place to stay and our host Jaime. We had room 6 with a veranda that looked out over the vineyards, absolutely beautiful. They offer a lovely breakfast in the morning with scrambled eggs. Room was clean, bed very comfortable, bathroom included a tub as well as a shower. Bathroom also included a hair dryer and a place to store your toiletries. Parking is free which is always a bonus. It is a short drive to all the nearby villages and restaurants. We recommend Marica and Belica had great meals at both restaurants. If you plan to do wine tasting in the area unlike many other parts of the world they do not have open cellars so you can’t just drive and stop in at the local wineries, you must book appointments. Jaime will gladly arrange this for you, be sure to visit Tomaz Princic, we had an incredible evening with Tomaz, learned all about this wine region and tasted many of his great wines. Not often that you actually get to sit down with the owner themselves and discuss their wines, a memorable experience for us. If you plan to go up the spiral tower to take some photos warning there was a large wasp nest at the top when...
Read moreSublime is the only way to describe the evening view from Vila Kozana's terrace. Extending across the Goriska Brda wine region it includes three of the region's prettiest towns (Smartno is just 2 km away) set against the stunning backdrop of the Julian Alps. On a clear day, we're told, it's possible to see Mount Triglav to the east and the dolomites to the west. The expanse covers Italy, Austria and Slovenia. |We arrived on bikes tired and very hot after a long day's cycling. The rather formal hotel exterior could not be more different to the warm, relaxed welcome we received from our host, Jamie. Our room was clean, bright, spacious and comfortable. Within the hotel, the walls are hung with pleasant art. While the true character of the original building is hidden under more recent improvements, don't let this put you off. We sat on the terrace and were served delicious wine and wonderful food, cooked up to our requirements - the ambience, warmth and views meant it was the most enjoyable meal we had whilst in Slovenia. This hotel is hiding its light under a bushel - make sure...
Read more2 dogs, 15th August, 31.4° in the room the air was broke since days and they didn’t tell nothing…. (Ignazio and Gal thank you for the lie )
We arrived at the property on August 15th. We had already paid €25 through booking, and €5 at the property. They didn't warn us that the air conditioning was broken. We had to tell them, and they made up excuse after excuse. The air conditioning hadn't worked in this property for some time. With two dogs in the room, we were suffering; we were forced to accept it. THEY GUARANTEED a refund given the inconvenience. And since we paid for a service that wasn't provided, they hadn't even notified us. And then they ignored us, ignored booking, and didn't refund anything. In addition to this, the pipes are old and noisy. The shower was noisy all the time. The sink was clogged. For the money they ask for and don't refund, despite paying for a service that isn't there, they could at...
